blockers
I was talking to a long-time vp player today(I"m a newbie) and he was telling me that he hit 2 royals on the same day on the same machine. I said "wow!" How much did you win ? He said $7000. He then went on to say it would have been more if it didn't take him so long to find the "blockers". I asked what are ,or is blockers? his reply was, " usually a small pair that you would normally play that hide or block out a much better shot at a big hand. In my case it was 8s. So once I avoided playing them I started to hit big." I was going to press him for more info but a 3rd party walked up and the topic changed. Have any of you long term players ever heard of "blockers"? I probably won't see this player again for a time, so I have no other info. Thanks!

when faced with 3 to a royal and a pair...i'd always go for the royal. don't see how "blockers" would even come into play.

I have Royal Flushes blocked by 5 random low cards all the time. It makes me madder than heck.

Supposedly casino owner Bob Stupak had a program installed in v.p. machines in his Las Vegas World(now the Stratosphere) that prevented royals from occuring. If he or anyone else did, there would be hell to pay and probably a loss of your casino license would be the result. Not to mention the bad publicity that it would bring to gaming!---CWA---

The machines are required by law to operate in a random fashion. Special code to "block" winning hands from coming up is a no-no.
