Pay Tables

Post by wildman49 »

I spent a lot of time looking at pay tables today at Soaring Eagle, Mt Pleasant, MI. I found a bank of older Game Kings .25-.50-$1 with DW 99.73%, DDB 99.96%, DB 99.11%, JOB 99.45%, WHA 99.24%.  Can someone tell me do you have to hit a Royal Flush in the 1 in 40,000 hands to a achieve these paybacks?

No, you could just hit a 4 of a kind in your first few hands and get a 500% payback.

If you play a lot (forever) then yes you will need some royal flushes to end up at that percentage.

Those are just averages, not guarantees over 40,000 hands.

if these games are truly "un-rigged", then those paytables represent a great playing opportunity for a serious VP player!   By un-rigged, I simply mean the game has not been modified or calibrated to return slot-like percentages by dealing many more random dud hands than is statistically expected in a normal RNG simulating a 52 card deck!

Wildman you don't have to hit a royal to achieve those payback percentages. If your session is short enough there is a very good chance though that your actual payback percentages will be higher or lower than the advertised percentages and in the event your payback percentages are higher; take the money and run. Good luck to you when you play.

Burglar, rigged machines! You cannot be serious. You have proof of this?

We all know it is "rigged" against us which is plain by the pay tables and the fact that this is gambling. Not cheating, but a house advantage. You win some, you lose some, and the house builds shiny new hotels. But it's fun, and maybe you win! They do not have to cheat to accomplish this.

I had a bad run a few years ago (okay, it lasted a few years), but I think people have just been doing worse. The past 2 years have been very good for me though. I do not think this is because they "un-rigged" the machines I was playing on. I just did better trusting my instincts. Following the cards started to not work so well for me and I had a very bad low period.

Then I started winning. Not every time, but ending up better than before.

If you really think they are cheating then I would stop and scratch my balls instead. You almost never lose doing that!

I don't get too concerned with odds anymore.  I still look for the best machines, but you can win on a 95% machine and lose on a 100% plus machine.  I think the idea that everyone can play forever on a 100% plus machine is bogus.   As they say, timing is everything.

If you plan to play a crapload of hands on them, then yes, you're going to need royals every once in awhile as it will be difficult to achieve those paybacks without some. Any given session though, you can definitely be ahead without a royal. The returns posted simply includes every hand and their expected probability, including royal flushes.

If video poker machines are rigged, I sure am happy about this year's rigging!  I guess they see me coming in the door and say "Here comes Phil, let's give him some money!"  Seriously, there have been times when I thought they were rigged too then my luck turned around.  I'm not getting cocky, because I know it can go back the other way any minute.
