Re: ULTIMATE X Winning Strategy
Was in KC last night and was looking for multipliers for awhile while trying to update Argosy Riverside's VP inventory for VPFree2. The guy next to me asked me why I was doing was I was doing and I explained it to him. By the amount of f-bombs he used to describe his luck on the machine, it sounded like he was having a rough night. But he was still thankful for my explanation, and I wished him good luck.
The best I could do at ultimate X at that casino.
Hopefully he had a hit bigger than the one I pulled after that incident. I felt like I had to play the "best game in the house" since it was one of my favorite games, 9/6 DDB with quick quads for 3 play quarters.
This is definitely above my normal play level at $4.50 per round. But I hit this about $30 in.
Then I went on a little run, getting 3332 dealt but no $100 quick quad unfortunately. I had to settle with a $11.25 full house. But I was able to hit and run it for $60.
By the end of the night, also saw another royal that wasn't mine. About $1300. And she had to keep playing the crappy 8/5 DDB prog while waiting. Maybe I'll get a quarter royal someday...

I have previously commented in another thread about the trolls who scroll through the Ultimate X machines looking for orphaned multipliers.
Just returned from a week in Vegas and I am totally outraged by what I witnessed at the locals casino I visit.
There was a grubby looking guy sitting at an Ultimate X machine, not playing, but just looking around. I was playing regular single line VP at a different bank of machines that was in full view of this Ultimate X machine and this creepy guy. He sat there for at least a half hour, and then suddenly stood up and left.
A few minutes later, another guy comes along with an elderly woman. He seems like he knows her, and she sits down at this recently vacated Ultimate X. After about 15 minutes, I see them both stand up to leave. They walk right past my machine, and I overhear her thanking him for teaching her how to play that game, and he apologizes that she didn't seem to have better luck.
As soon as they walk away, the creepy grubby guy sits back down at this Ultimate X. Sure enough, the second guy returns without the elderly woman, and sits next to Mr. Grubby. I cashed out my machine, and stood behind the two, watching them. YUP, they played off all the multipliers this woman left behind. They "earned" $78 for their little scam. When they finally noticed me standing behind them, the one guy of this scam team said "best game in the casino!", and then they scooted off towards the exit.
Just utterly shameful!
Evidently, this scam is more common than I thought. I caught on to one of them several years ago. The only difference is that this one was very well dressed in expensive casual clothes. Also pretended to " teach " the elderly the game and switched games on them after a winning hand so the multipliers stayed there. After losing, the seniors left and the scam artist played off all of the games with the multiplier. After I was sure what was happening, I cashed out my ticket and went over to the gaming commission myself. I had to explain to them the scam and they evidently weren't that versed in vp so it took a while. Anyway, they pulled him up on the security cameras and in less than 2 minutes a number of " suits " showed up and took him away. I hate people who pray on seniors not that I am not one myself. I usually myob, but in this instance, it was more than I could take and it was happening to multiple seniors with the same character. Haven't seen him since.

Please, will olds or someone kindly explain to me why/how this scam is illegal in the casinos. It sounds like the scammer(s) can be banned from the casino by the gaming commission, but on what basis? Aren't they stealing from the elderly victims, not directly from the casino?
If the gaming commission cares, then I would certainly be much more pro-active should I encounter this again.

Ever since Penn Gaming took over Argosy Riverside, the VP has gone downhill. I haven't set foot in that place since the changeover. I totally understand that guy's "luck."

Some of the units looked to be "untouched" in terms of paytables. Others definitely looked like they could have been downgraded. Can't speak about comps or anything since I never really play there. Hollywood St. Louis has barely been touched since the takeover, thankfully as they have the best VP selection for quarters in STL. The full-pay Quick Quads I found last night at Riverside looked to be an "untouched" holdover from when Argosy owned it.
And as far as ultimate x goes, you have to have good luck to beat a 97% return game at best, which many people play at a 93% return level or worse. Well, Argosy had 6/5 Bonus (~98.2%) at least. Ultimate X is the biggest example of casino greed I can think of. They would still make money hand over fist even if they offered full-pay games because most people play the game exactly like they would a normal vp game, which is very costly!

I mean totally awesome!Seriously vman, you just echoed one of my main points contained in most of my so-called "AC-rants"..... what is killing the business and most casinos and their surrounding locations and cities, is essentially the philosophy of the ruling members........by philosophy I mean "GREED"I said many times, Atlantic City (and by extension places like TUNICA....or "Tuna-can") needs to re-think its goals and business objectives and replace the "maximum profit" ideal with "SURVIVAL") They need to give back to the players MORE value (which means more winning, more comps, more of everything that translates into money)....loosen the games and/or make them less likely to always clobber the player. As you said very aptly above, casinos can and will continue to make money hand over fist, but the goal and object will be to Survive....profits will be made, but the overall profit margins will have to be recalibrated downward to allow players to win more often and in more amounts.

I don't know what statute or rule they are using. As far as I know, the casino can ban anyone for any reason they want. I guess it would be similar to someone operating a crime like lifting wallets from shoppers in your store while they bend over to look at a shirt on a rack or something. There are probably statutes on all of this and similar, I just don't know what they are. I know that example is stretching it. I just used it to to see how something could be similar. Really, they are just preying on ignorance of vulnerable people. It just isn't right no matter what the rules say.

I am not sure about all states, but I know that in Nevada, barring play is an option for all casinos.
