Atlantic City gaming going extinct?

No but maybe will shrink a lot. They have a lot more competition but there will always be a market for it I think.

I can only speak for myself and say that I like going to Atlantic City. My complaint is that they have a tiny airport and it is hard for me to get there. In talking to others who are fortunate enough to live within driving distance there appears to be an issue with getting there as well due to heavy traffic.

I have gambled all over the country and can say in comparing it to other places where I gamble it is one of my favorite places to visit. I like the boardwalk, the CET diamond / 7 star lounges, and thanks to Bally's the selection of video poker machines is adequate. The only gambling destination I like better is Lake Tahoe.

Do I think AC gaming is going extinct? Absolutely not. Those that remain should become stronger. They do need to repair their image and give the place a facelift in places but overall the place is unique and I always look forward to going there. I just wish It wasn't so hard to get there or I would definitely go more.

I believe that AC got a little 'lazy', since they did not have competition, other than Nevada, for big casino gaming. Now every state, virtually, has something, whether it be Native American or private sector casinos. With gaming available everywhere, why travel to AC ?

IMO, they need to decide what market they want to serve. If it's a local market, then make it easy for locals to get there. If it's a 'destination' market, then they need to have things that will attract folks to AC beyond just The Boardwalk.

They are gonna have bigger problems when the gaming pact expires next year with the Seminoles here in Florida. The push will be on for destination resorts in South Florida. Think of it: An established tourist infrastructure, South Beach, golf courses, great winter weather, international airport.

chatty,it's really only the summer that the traffic is very heavy driving down to AC.you do lost some of the traffic at seaside heights,thank god.i'm driving down tomorrow so i'll let you know how good/bad it may be.

  Yes doris good luck to you. In case you have some free time may I suggest that you head down to the New Jersey Gaming Commission office and inquire about state gaming regulations? I believe it was on, um let me think, what was the name of that street? Oh yes, TENNESSEE AVENUE.

91/2 Hr. drive for me. Last visit 2 weeks ago . Only traffic problems was around DC. AC Xway flowed nicely. Don't know about the Trpk. Always a nice vacation all paid for by CET.
