Re: CNN Series - Death Row
Well the Arizona botching might have something to do with the delay.
Didn't stop missouri though. We executed our 7th inmate this year at 12:01am today, tying Florida and Texas for the lead in 2014. There has only been 27 executions this year nationwide. Fortunately for pro-death penalty people, it only took 10 minutes today.

Ask your Missouri Governor to send his pen to the Colorado Governor, please. He seems to have misplaced his, apparently.
It's as good a reason for not signing the execution order as the one that he gave to the victim's family (which he would NOT meet with in person).

Yeah, if our governor could legally kill him, I'm sure he would gladly do so. He was the former atty. general here for 16 years, and may be the biggest pro-death penalty Democrat I have ever seen.
But even so, the shortest amount of time of any inmate on death row that was executed this year was 16 years. So our state does give reasonable times/attempts for appeals. But it's the lengthy appeals is why I am against it in practice, mostly for financial reasons. If it saves us money to lock them up and throw away the key, then I think that's what we should do. In your case, I think most or all his appeals are exhausted, then sure, sign the warrant.
If someone is clearly guilty of murder, I have no problem with it in theory. Sadly if I was a convicted murderer that was actually innocent, I'm pretty sure I would rather be sentenced to death vs. life w/o parole. Better chance to get overturned, and after ~20 years in prison, screw it, kill me at that point anyway.

Here is what 20 +years in prison has done to this particular inmate.
I'd have to pay big bucks to get those teeth and that hair for myself.

I can't even post what I would like to write about all of this. Same goes here for the hair and teeth comment. Of course you and I did pay for his top notch dental work in the way of taxes. If we aren't going to kill him, why can't we just send him off to prison in another country of the family members choosing?

Yeah, I was going to bump this up too. I'll be in a much, much happier place at that time.
I also missed the last post you wrote about him. Wow...what kind of drug was he on in that initial mug shot? Also totally guessed wrong on race from the name, obviously.

The telecast aired as scheduled last night on CNN, right in the middle of the Denver Broncos' NFL game (Coincidence - or an attempt to limit Denver and Colorado viewing audiences?). I found the first ten minutes well done (although difficult for me, personally, to watch), as it recanted the horror of the crime. The remaining 50 minutes, however, seemed to focus on how 'flawed' everything is, barely mentioning the 20+ years of appeals and mental evaluations that were provided to the man convicted of this crime.
The current Governor of Colorado, who currently refuses to sign the execution order, is up for re-election this November. He has now taken a position against the death penalty - one that is not shared by the people of Colorado, and differs from his position in his first Gubernatorial election. The victim's families fear that, if defeated in the governor race, his 'parting shot' will be to grant clemency to this murderer of four innocent people.

I would slightly disagree with you Ted...
I would like to see these sub-humans die by the same method as they killed their victims.
I'm more than happy to do the deed...no regrets.
