Re: Hand Frequency Question
As you probably know, I enjoy playing single hand single coin then switching to max coins on some predetermined criteria. I realize the last hand has nothing to do with the next, but it works for me. My usual deuces wild scheme has been working, but I wanted to try it with some other games. For the last two weeks I have been playing 8/5 DDB (the best DDB game we have) and switching to max coins whenever I win 3 coins or more. I find it's easier to manage my money with DDB because I cash out all 4-of-a-kinds and reevaluate when my cash is gone and I'm left with only white tickets. I hit a 4 A-kicker yesterday for $1,000 so I'm a happy camper today. I thought I was playing about 20% of my DDB hands at max coins, but it looks like it's closer to 10%. Interesting...
P.S. I know this isn't suppose to work, but since I've been playing this way I have been playing for free. What can I say?

Hi Phil. Good going and keep it going. Yes that appx 10% number makes sense based on the every 9 hands as posted below. Shortly after you folks left Mohegan and after helping out the folks with some serious medical situations, I was able to scoot away to Mohegan for a few hours. Playing only quarters and a variety of games, I was able to cash out 2800- in tickets that evening and no hand pays. Everything just seemed to be hitting. Since then, I have had a few short trips up there and unfortunately nothing good since. Wish I had stayed with 1 coin quarters, and I would still have most of that 2800-. I really can't knock that system at all since it is great for preserving bankroll even if nothing good hits. Actually, just got back today from another attempt and I played 1 coin on a 10 line game. Over the course of the day, I caught deuces 4 times on different lines, but they were all with 1 coin in. That is because when I hit 4 or more on the single bottom hand, I played 5 hands for 1 coin each instead of your max bet method on the single line. I still was ahead a little playing that way until I wasted it on Double Down Stud Deuces Wild at the 1 dollar level, hoping of course for dealt deuces. That would have paid 800- after doubling the 1 coin bet after seeing the first 4 cards. Had fun playing though. I also put a stickem with a smiley face on my money clip that says 1 coin with an exclamation point. to remind me of course on those cold days which is most of the time up here. Hi to the Mrs. too

If you're min coining sometimes, why are you max betting the 50c level? Do they not have 8/5 DDB at 25c?
And in the shorter term obviously, it can be a bit higher than one in nine if you're running good, which it sounds like you are. 20% is not very likely at all though over a few hours of play assuming standard vp though.

Nice. $2,800 is a very good day. I've been coasting since our trip to the Mohegan Sun. I've played a bunch of hands and always seem to come home with some money in my pocket. I don't worry about losing these days. I just play my strategy and let the jackpots take care of themselves. I went to the Hard Rock on Tuesday and played my DDB single quarter strategy for about 6 hours. I hit three max coin quads and a bunch of single coin quads and came home up about $100. Yesterday the cleaning lady showed up early, so I got out of there fast before the girls found something for me to do. I played single coin quarter DDB for about three hours and didn't get a single quad. I was down about $150 and went to my lucky machine in the back. I hit a straight flush, clicked the max coin button at .50 and 5-6 hands later got 4 aces with a kicker for $1,000. I played some more, but didn't give much of it back. I'm convinced that the biggest problem with video poker is the long bad streaks that cause you to build up a big loss or give back your winnings. It makes more sense to me to play real cheap most of the time and go higher on a small percentage of the hands. You never know when a jackpot is going to come along. It takes a lot fof patience, but it works.

Good question. The Tampa Hard Rock only has 8/5 DDB. I believe this is true even in the High Limit room. When I play DDB, I play single coin quarters until I win 3 coins on a hand. I switch to max coins for the next hand and stay there until I get a losing hand then I switch back to single coin. I never put more than $20 in the machine at a time. If the counter goes to $25.00 I switch to single coin .50 or dollars and do the same thing. If the counter goes under $20, I switch back to single coin quarters and start all over again. If I'm doing well that day, I switch to $1s, If not I switch to .50 at $25. I always cash out all quads immediately and put the white ticket in my wallet. I stop and reevaluate when all I have is white tickets left . If I'm substantially ahead for the day, I usually take a pot shot at $1s or even $5 playing with the same strategy. I've hit most of my biggest jackpots at $1, but not many at $5. One day......
I actually prefer deuces wild when playing this way. The game has lots of smooth up and down streaks that you can take advantage of. DDB not so much. Pros will tell you this is crazy talk and it won't work. The cards tell me differently, but my defination of a what constitutes a win is different.
