Re: Virtual Birthday Cake from theacequeen
Are you going to do a side trip to Tahoe while you are there?

Hi Chattycathy,
We are all heading down to Lake Tahoe today for a few hours. My sister has never seen it -- we hope to go out for a boat ride while we are there. Despite the fact that we will be in poverty for the next 10 years after big losses on this trip, we are having a wonderful time with birthday/family reunion. My oldest brother died several years ago at 59, so we are really relishing having fun time with each other. We all now want to make this an annual event -- maybe next year in New Orleans or Vegas (my brother who is here lives very close to Vegas).
My husband had first Aces of the trip 3 times yesterday, but none with kickers. I missed a Royal. I was in triple double and dealt 2 tens, one of which was a heart, and the A of hearts. I kept the tens, and the other 3 parts of the Royal came out on the draw. GRRRRRR...... Really could have used that Royal.
Here's my tip for Reno Harrah's....if you're looking for a sweet treat, order a strawberry julius while gambling. It is like a little strawberry milkshake -- absolutely delicious and ZERO calories (oh, sure) and if you want a little kick to it, ask them to throw in a shot of vodka.
Good luck to you and everyone in the contests!

Good luck to you and everyone in the contests! Remember if you are a Diamond or higher you get a free yacht ride on the Tahoe Star. I guess it is still running. Wife and I did it twice this summer. It goes to Emerald Bay and back. In years past we used to get it all to ourselves when CET used to give that benefit to 7 Star players. If you have never done it before it comes with free drinks and snacks.
I wish you luck in Tahoe. Maybe you will win all of your money back. Even if you don't you are still a winner by being able to see the most beautiful place on this planet.

Woe is me. Not only have I returned from Tahoe having missed ANOTHER Royal (a really big one), but I see that I am knocked from first place in the monthly contest by chattycathy! Congratulations! (I still have 4 games to go....I'm out to catch you).
Finally got a couple of good hits last night -- some dollar Aces and Aces with K on quarters. Took the money and ran for bed.
There were only 4 spaces left on the boat ride yesterday, so I sent the family members off (I've done the ride already and it is gorgeous. Staff is wonderful.) Despite wider selection of machines in Tahoe, nobody won anything. We came back for wonderful buffet dinner and then we all went to the show. We are all mostly losing, but Harrah's has comped us just about everything, so we are having a wonderful vacation and reunion.
Now chatty, I don't mind being bumped from my lofty #1 position, but I am hoping to make it to the end of the month on the top 10 so I can qualify for TOC. Good luck to all in contests!

Same luck to you as well. Thank you for allowing me the top spot if only for a brief time. CET is very good to us as well. We are leaving for our local, Horseshoe Bossier City, in about an hour for a weekend of gambling, dining , and to see Jeff Dunham, the ventriloquist perform. I will be pulling for you to retain your top spot.

We are in the room after about 5 hours of video poker and 1 hour break at the halfway point eating all you can eat crab legs. They were very good by the way. No royals, several close calls. Played all DDB, not that many 4oak's but did have one 4a's no kicker and one set of 3's with kicker so I eked out a small win for the night. Unfortunately my wife took a beating on slots. She refuses to play video poker but together we compliment one another. We will put in a full day tomorrow and hope for the best. Thank you for the good luck wishes and best of luck to you as well.

When we get home tomorrow, I will try to do a more complete trip report under the trip report category. Other than gambling losses, we are having a great time.
chatty, congrats on your aces -- keep winning. Write a trip report when you get back.
