Let's Think, What replaced What...

After viewing the gorgeous pics taken by VMan's g/f, I couldn't help but think how the Strip has changed throughout the years/decades and was thinking about some of the properties that have been replaced.  I believe the Strip is beautiful now, but can't help but think about some of the icon names that are no longer.  
I think I miss the Sands property the most.  Ironically, I really never played there often, I just thought it was such a "Rat Pack" hangout and feel the loss of that era.
 
So, in the words of Kib lately, "this could be fun"   Hope so.

The Stardust was the iconic Vegas scene on most older movies. We stayed there a lot. I miss that place.

Yes, it sure was, Rayser.  I never stayed there but was always assured of having a good time whenever I played there.  Fun atomosphere and loose machines.

So, in the words of Kib lately, "this could be fun"   Hope so. I believe Belagio is where the Dunes used to be. Somewhere I have lots of old vhs tape when we first went to Vegas back when camcorders were bigger and weighed about as much as an average sized bowling ball. What is now Planet Hollywood used to be Alladin and was originally was Tally Ho before it closed down in 1966. And Hacienda is now Mandalay Bay. There have been a lot of changes over the years. Most of these were implosions and rebuilds.

i also miss the sands the most.we stayed there all the time,watched mirage being built.it was small and we knew just about everyone who worked there.i still have about 10 sands coffee mugs,lol.

The Barbary Coast may not be a classic in the same league as the others mentioned here, but it's where we stayed when we first started going to Vegas regularly.

I have fond memories of the times we spent there, the people we met, and the extraordinary comped dinners at Michaels.

Then, of course, it became Bill's Gamblin Hall and Casino, and more recently, The Cromwell.

That's correct. I'm not sure as to when it went out.

I regret I didn't branch off by myself much on my first trip to Vegas in 2001. We totally ignored most of the casinos north of Mirage. Of course this area had several casinos that are no longer.

We played mostly at Mirage, Flamingo, and Paris. Guess what? They are all still there. Bah.

Other than the Tally Ho, all the other properties were great memories for me as well.  My first trip to Vegas was in '77 or '78 when I fell in love forever.  Vegas that is.  lol 
 
Does anyone remember the name of the property north of Caesars that probably was in the Mirage spot.  I remember walking from there to Caesars and the then Holiday Inn back in some pretty fun days.  Not that there haven't been any since, just remember how neat it was to be walking through the desert; at least for this city girl.
