Ultimate X Question
Since this weeks feature game is Ultimate X and there is no training mode for it, I would welcome any comment from anyone who has success playing it either here or at the casino. Regardless of the basic game I am playing, I do my best to play with optimal mathematical strategy. But with Ultimate X the previous hand offers some temptations to swing for the fences on occasion.
For instance if I am playing DDB and I draw 2 kings and 2 fours normally I would keep both pairs and go for the full house. But what if the previous hand left me with an 8 or 10 or 12 times multiplier? It would be tempting to keep only the pair of kings in hopes of a big payoff if I was fortunate enough to get a 4oak along with a big multiplier. Especially if you are playing ten hands. Maybe that is why there is no training mode for it. Any comments on this or other situations involving Ultimate X would be appreciated.

In "Contest Mode", you always need to go for the highest payout, IMO. I chase more inside straights in UltX than any other game, along with 3 to the flush, in hopes of getting a bigger multiplier for the next hand.
But then again, I have never won a contest, so put my comments in perspective.

In Ultimate X, some if it is multiplier dependent, but Kings and Fours is not an example of this. Think about it this way. Two pairs guarantee you a 3X multiplier for all the next hands, instead of 2X. You also have a 4 in 47 chance to get the much sought-after 12X.
For playing it for cash in the casino, the "multiplier independent" strategy for 9/6 DDB is here, and is within 0.05% of the humanly impossible multiplier dependent strategy. Like billyjoe suggested, going for inside straights and 3 to a flush are both better than nothing.

Now billyjoe says you always need to go to for the highest payout in a "contest mode". I agree when "making the hand" gives you a chance to be "near or in the money". For instance, if you have dealt Aces full with a 10X multiplier on one hand. You need to break and pray in a contest, but ultimate X cash strategy would tell you to keep aces full because of the guaranteed 12X multipliers for the next hand.

Ult X is a game where it is so fluid from one hand to the next to make any hard and fast rules on what to go for...for me it's not a matter of what to go for but when. The best way I describe it for myself is I am either setting up for a chance at a big hand or going for it.It really is dependent on what multipliers I already have,,,,and then looking at it as what multipliers can I get if I go for the straight or full house in order to set up good multipliers on a better chance at a great hand.So for your example I would always go for the full house in hopes my next hand gave me a better shot at a big hand.

The reason I brought up the example of kings and fours is that I know a lot of people that routinely will toss one of the pairs and go for more 4oak's. I do see your point Vman now that if you keep the 2 pairs at the very least on the next hand you will have 3x multiplier on all hands. If only we had a crystal ball and knew what cards were coming up next.

Thank you Shycrow for bumping this thread back up. I had completely forgotten about it. You are right in that it is a very fluid game from one hand to the next. The peaks can be much higher and the valleys can unfortunately be much deeper. I marvel at the luck others have had playing Ultimate X where they follow up a dealt full house with a dealt 4oak or better. It makes for the potential of a very big payout. I guess that is why I am drawn to this game and want to make sure I am making as few of mistakes as possible.

I have played it as a straight ahead DDB game and trying to get max multipliers....funny thing is I caught my 4x royal playing normal strategy. I think it is a game that is better the more hands you can play because of the multipliers. I usually play 5 or 10 handed for dimes....

I also play 5 or 10 play, and I will sometimes play for the multipliers and hope for a good outcome in the next few hands.

I agree with some of the responses above! I almost always go for the next hand. That's what this game is all about. If I have aces and deuces, I'll keep both pairs because of the guaranteed 3X and possible 12X. I "might" toss the deuces if I have huge multipliers on all lines and pray for a couple deuces but it's so difficult and 12X a full house is a nice pay!

Yeah generally you want to hold 2 pair even with aces in DDB. Future multipliers matter.
