Potshots.... Which Game?
Let's assume you are going to play 4 hands each hour taking a high denomination potshot during a day's play. I have been doing this with $1 and $5 machines for a while now and it has proven to be profitable, at least in the short run. My game of choice has always been Deuces, but I'm thinking the odds of hitting a good jackpot in only 4 hands might be better in DDB. In Deuces, the odds of getting 4 deuces is about 1/5000. In DDB, the odds of getting a quad of any kind is about 1/400. If you are going to do this, it seems like DDB might be the better bet? On the other hand, short runs in deuces could produce more chances. I realize all this is totally random and you are looking for a bolt out of the blue, but it does happen and I think it's worth the small investment. Besides, it's fun...

It depends on your measure of success, Phil. If you choose to play at a high denomination, IMO, you want to maximize your potential payout when that great hand comes to you. My choice , of course, would be TDB.
If, however, you just want to add a little to your bankroll with some good payouts on the more 'average' hands, then a lower volatility game should be your preference.

I suppose you want to play with your single coin system with max bets at 4 coins for deuces and 3 coin win for non-deuces variant games.
Deuces is pretty decent to go from $20 to $100 cashout ticket, in my opinion.
I have been wondering that too, I was going to explore running potshot simulations on multiple games such as DDB, Bonus, Bonus Deuces, and TDB.
If I recall correctly, I think the Bonus Poker that returns 35 for all quads offered at your local casino might be a good candidate since you might be able to play more than 8 hands, but if you hit quads with $5 max bet, it would be a $875 win and $175 for ($1 max bet or single $5 bet).

One drawback of DDB at $5 max bet is if you get that high is that any quad triggers a W2-G.

I think I'll stay with Deuces. The most common good hand is quad deuces and a single coin $5 quad deuce pays $1,000, just under the W2G limit. If I hit one at max coins for $5K, I'll deal with it.
