Re: Anyone ever hit something like this?
I may have set a record or close last night at Mohegan Sun. I played TDB which I hardly ever play for two minutes on a nickel spin machine with 3 lines and hit 4 deuces with an ace on all 3 lines. I was dealt 3 deuces and drew an ace and deuce on all 3 lines. My wife has had great luck lately playing the same game. I can't hit squat on anything else. This is the record I am really talking about. Took the money from the nickel game and figured I would play something conservative the rest of the night on quarters. Hit only 1 more quad of any kind in the next 8 hours playing about 600 hands an hour on a single line game, but the real rub is I went 47 straight hands without even hitting 2 pair on 9/6 job. There were a few money back hits in there, but nothing 2 for 1 or higher. Needless to say, the TDB nickel money was long gone and then some before the night was over. Since this was an overnight trip and I didn't have to worry about driving home, I had a nice bowl of wonton noodle soup and several local micro brew beers. That was the extent of the good part of the evening. Oh and I forgot. The Irish Tenors Christmas show which was great. No hits on the cash drawing at the holiday party earlier in the day. When they announced the grand prize 10k winner, they did it pretty slowly saying the patron's first name first. Of course he had to have the same 1st name as me and for a split second, I thought I had won the 10k.

This thread reminds me many years ago on the big old coin machine before TITO. A lady sat next to me on her 4th hand she hit 4 Aces for $800. They filled the bucket with coins closed the door she hit 4 Aces again. Filled the bucket again and on the next hand you guessed it hit them again.
Aces - back to back to back as in 3x in a row. It was bizarre. She got nothing on the next hand and left.

this is significant because you just essentially illustrated the point that this forum has been arguing about for the last 2-3 years.....that Video poker has changed and for the worse. We all have our opinions and theories, but it boils down to whether or not the machines of today are intentionally set to make it much harder for any given player to win, where as VP machines of 7,8 years ago and beyond (say prior to 2005) were much much more likely to yield experiences like what you just described. We all have some similar tale of things (positive events) that USED to happen years ago that no longer happen, or happen with decreased frequency.I had a streak of 11 straight visits to a Vegas casino in 2003-2004 where I hit at least one royal (on several trips I hit multiple royals)......average trip during this time was 2 to 3 days and I played about 5 to 7 hours per day. Since 2009 however, playing almost exclusively in AC, I hit about one royal for each MONTH of play on average, with about 7 days per month in a casino playing AT least 8 hours a day!!!!! its almost absurd (no forget "Almost", it IS absurd.) Back in the late 1990s thru 2006 I had several years where I truly did turn a profit (and I do not mean 50 or 100 bucks TOTAL profit for the year......I mean at least several thousand dollars or more, the highest being over 10 grand one very good year!.....since 2007 however, always a losing total, but with a lot more comps and freebies to truly muddy the water.)I can recall numerous, NUMEROUS times hitting quads back to back or within 10 to 15 hands of each other......nowadays, this almost never happens to me. My TOTAL overall video poker play in terms of total coin in has dropped since at least 2011 after I truly noticed this extreme turn of events, but I still play enough lower stakes (25 cent denom) to keep my actual hand count respectably high. But clearly when I go to a casino now, I have OTHER things on my agenda besides video poker, whereas prior to 2005 or so, Video Poker WAS the agenda more often than not (along with sports betting when I was in Nevada)

DaBurglar the only thing spx's narrative illustrated was randomness and chance. All I want for Christmas is for you to quit bringing up rigged machines and the alleged downward spiral of video poker.

Whatever your problem with me is, you manifest it with your own CONSTANT criticism and discontent. And "downward spiral" is your words, not mine. I am talking about how the game is different today, which it undeniably is (nothing "alleged") and MANY people here agree with me......

DaBurglar I don't have a problem with you so why do you feel the need to always go there? My guess is because your argument is not on a firm foundation so you then have to sink down to a level you feel comfortable at.
You really are a piece of work. I will bet that for every person here that you think agrees with you and your hairbrained theories, there are two that think the opposite. And yes, hairbrained is my word, not yours.

Thats what got me started. Back in 2004, I believe it was, I was injured in a motorcycle accident and out of work. My mother of all people used to hit the casino's on those senior day trips and convinced me to join them to get me out of the house. I had never been to a casino before. I sat at a VP machine not noticing it was $1 credits. First deal I was pissed when I saw $5 of my $20 disappear. All junk cards. Hit draw BAM! quad Aces. Said what the hell and bam got Quad Aces 2 more times. I was hooked. My mother has not forgiven herself yet.

. I know that feeling well as most of us do. While the financial consequences can be quite costly, there is a certain mystique and thrill of playing vp that you can't quite put into words and boredom while playing never enters the picture at all.
