2014.....won or loss poll???

Post by notes1 »

thought it might be interesting to do an informal (but, honest) poll for anyone who wants to participate. DID YOU WIN OR LOSE IN 2014? a simple W or L is all that is required. if one wants to provide extra details, all the better.  please base your answer on gambling ONLY. do not count any value from comps, free play, food, planes, rooms, etc.    here is my report; i LOST and i lost more than expected. i made 24 casino trips. one half were one day (12 hours play) and one half were 2 day (24 hours play). i played 95% VP, and 5% slots. most all my VP was single line, twenty five cent, DDB or TDB, max coins and i spread my play over 6 cities. about 65% was at CET casinos.  approx 10% of trips were winners ($200+), 10% trips were break even (+or - $100) and the balance were losers ( - $200 or more).

Loss by a large margin, 2014 was my first year playing regularly and one thing I feel I did good was getting quads of every rank.

Lost badly. Mostly due to a Vegas trip that I lost $3000 - mostly playing nickles. Otherwise, my results were about as expected - a minor loss, a handful of big winner days and a bunch of losing days. 2014 was my first year without a W2G.

This year, I intend to keep more accurate records though.

Win:
comps gifts (saving $ on presents);
free rooms (while traveling - including in Canada);
food (seafood gumbo, buffets);
entertainment (concerts);
wonderful adventures and experiences (opening a new casino and New Year's Eve celebrations);
earning a free cruise;
making new friends and meeting "older" ones;
keeping me mostly out of trouble;
"sheltering in place" when we needed to and "getting our fix" - often;
communing with nature (counting hawks on our 2 hour drive),
time together (pricele$$).

Loss :
Coin In/Coin-out;
completing my "honey do list",
sleep.

2014 was a very good year for me.  I won about $5,500 not counting comps.  I played single coin quarters about 80% of the time and had some very lucky max coin hits.  I don't expect to duplicate this in 2015, but I won't be giving it back either.    I don't really care if I win or lose.  I just try to keep my loses as small as possible and let the wins take care of themselves.

W
Played mostly from March-June. The majority played on multi point days at my local casino, until they excluded VP from the promotion in July. (another dumb move by a casino ) Small profit, and only because of the promo.
