I am not going to get rich by any means here, but won't go broke either.
Exactly.. The only people getting rich these days off video poker are casinos (at least they used to) and people selling things to players.

. For now, I'm content with building up a little bankroll. Maybe will just graduate to strictly single coin play at the fifty cent or dollar level.
The variance seems low on quarter 5 play using strictly single coin play on the Bonus Poker game. Best I can get is 7/5 around here which still isn't too bad. In fact, my best thought, but just might be doable.
Olds, I noticed on vpfree2 someone posted in the past few weeks that Mohegan has a $1 ,5 play, Multi strike, DBDW (99.81%) upstairs in the old poker room.
I'm not sure if it's possible or even worth it to play 1 line ,single coin? (never mind the variance of DBDW), but I thought id mention in case you do decide to go to the dollar level.
Vpfree2 also has a older post from a few years back saying Mohegan had 50c 8/5 BP , is that still true ,or is it all 7/5 now?

That machine is there, but I haven't verified the paytable yet. That is the machine that I posted about a couple of days ago where the foreign guy hit a mega mega jackpot on it. The 8/5 Bonus machines have been gone for a few years. Those were my favorites. Thanks for the info. I play a lot in that room, but the low ceiling makes the smoke terrible. Only play in there when it is dead in the middle of the night for the most part. There are lots of 99 plus machines in there though.

You are right on with that statement, I still think casinos get wealthy since the number of recreational players vastly outnumber those that play VP properly let alone the amount of advantage players.
As far as the people selling things/services, I personally would recommend people to spend money on it (even swallowing pride if it comes to it) or else the casino will get even more of your money, so might as well start saving sooner learning the best way to play each video poker game.

Knowledge is power. On my website I urge players to buy and practice with training software. I also urge them to read everything they can about the game and to listen to what other players are saying and doing. The problem comes when recreational players assume that just because a strategy works for a professional, it will work for them just as well. Professional players are not interested in the game as entertainment, they are constantly looking for unique situations where the edge is positive enough to justify the risk. I have no problem at all with anyone making money from video poker or from selling anything to players. My problem is the harm caused by the misinterpretation of that information by the average player.

8/5 Bonus Poker is usually very frustrating. 8/5, 99% is fine. But when you finally hit a quad, it's a vanilla quad. A whopping $25, which gets you back to break even if that.

I have tried Phil's one coin on job and failed badly. It was one of
those days with no quads and of course no Royals. If I remember, I
caught a lone straight flush that day, but with one coin in.________________________________________________________________________Hi Olds. Just saw this. I don't think it would work out well for me either; I'm a 9/6 JOB player. But I could be wrong. Your results in subsequent posts are great data!

As expected, another good day for the casino, though I kept my play
lower than usual. This is just one sample, but very representative of
what I've been experiencing for 5 or 6 years now. I have now hit 600k hands without a Royal. My only way around
this is to change casinos, stop playing, or just play 1 coin and not
worry about the Royal. For me, option 3 for now, suits me best. The
results are approximations, but very close to actual.
3,000 hands 9/6 job at 1 coin quarters....132%..return. 7 quads 3 of which were Aces 1 was deuces. Lots of full houses.
3,000 hands at 5 coin quarters 9/6 job...88% return...2 quads...
40 hands at 25 coin which is their max bet on most
machines. All on 9/6 job....20%...return. Almost all were dud hands.
That about sums it up and the results. The casino netted about 400 bucks from me.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My belated thanks for your yeoman gaming and providing us these fascinating statistics. I will now also switch to a closer approximation of the Cheap System. Like 65% one coin. Two straight busts are enough for me. My goal is to arrive by 11 AM, gamble throughout and take pot shots at the end, right before a 5 PM dinner and 7:30 PM departure. Only one way to do that. Go small for most of my 9/6 JOB. 132% is killer, by the way.

4,000 hands played all single coin quarters 9/6 job. 14 quads. Again the
aces dominated with 3 of them and two were deuces. Doesn't help on
this game, but they just aren't hitting on Deuces Wild. The highlight of the trip was breaking another horrible 600k hand plus
streak without a Royal. I threw away a dud hand and the redraw gave me
all of the clubs for a Royal. Only $62.50, but for me better than
chasing it like last year where it cost me over 50 grand. I had one
streak of 500k plus hands last year without one and then this one of
just over 600k. Came home w gas money anyway.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thanks for more statistics. A quad every 286 hands sure beats the hell out of what I did Sat on my last machine. 0 in over 800 hands.Congrats on the gas money and providing fuel for our consideration as well. I doubt you lost even a grand halfway through this year! 2014's fifty grand loss will soon be ancient history.
