IMO, anyone who continues to play the " race card " and stretch things way beyond their original intent does nothing but serve to polarize those who may have changed their thinking over the years a little and become a little more open minded to revert back to the way they thought when they were growing up back in the 40's 50's or early 60's. While this reversion may be temporary it is still not healthy for anyone.

Olds, How can the Ferguson reference be anything but a racially insensitive remark after all the things that happened there. In my everyday life I call people on their racially insensitve remarks no matter what nationality they are attacking. So why would I put up with it here?

DaBurglar I posted what I did because you were pushing me for an answer as to why I "suddenly don't care."   As for salaries in the NFL it is true that "big money" didn't actually come into play after free agency around 1987. It is also true that many players who's career ended pre-1972 didn't get a pension worth mentioning. I think the average was about $500.00 a month. Mike Ditka has been instrumental in getting these old timers some money. People who play the game know the risks. I was one of them: getting stingers and hip pointers; getting hit in the head and seeing little clear worms floating in my eyes (mild concussion); getting clipped and chop blocked;, you name it. I went on because I just loved to play.   I could go on but why...

JMO opinion here, but I think what may be racially insensitive to some is not to others and comments made to not mean they have they have a racist bone in their body. I think people react to what they see and what they hear. If what they see reminds them of something else, then that is why some comments are made. For instance, one of the most heinous crimes in recent history, was committed by whites in Cheshire Ct. a few years back. Because this is seen and heard in the news, people will make comments such as filthy scumbags, trashy trailer park types, total losers etc. and on and on. To me, all this means is those making those comments are just totally frustrated by what they have seen, read about, or heard. I don't think though that it reflects a life long lasting mindset. It could, but I think for the most part it doesn't and things are said most often out of complete frustration for real events that did happen.

edited to fix a sp. error.

in a perfect world, there would be no form of prejudice, no wars, we would all be the perfect height/weight, everyone would get along, no financial problems, etc. and, everyone would win at VP.  but, the world is not perfect and each of us has had different life experiences that affect who we are and what we have become.  i mentioned in an earlier post how i had grown weary of the class warfare and generalizations. the same can be said for the name calling and labeling.   i would just urge caution before labeling anyone. i have yet to meet anyone who does not have some faults, that someone else might find offensive. there are only so many perfect people like myself.

good advice...and by the way when the wife gets really mad at me she usually says something like...Oh, you think you are just perfect...Now, I know that of course is not true, but it would help, if I could somehow lean a little in that direction on winning at vp.

My prediction if Brady fully recoveres from his bad cold is Pats 32 Seattle 24. If it is still bothering him, Pats 28 Seattle 27. All a guess of course. Anything " can and will happen". I think either way, the game will be fairly high scoring. Last thing football needs now after all of the deflategate stuff is a dull boring game.

Well, I see I called the game really close, but just like in vp, no cigar... . I still can't believe that play call by the Seahawks near the end of the game. Half a yard to go and you have a player who could have plowed through to the goal line like a bull in a china shop. Three downs to go no less. Unbelievable play call. That is all I have to say.

Olds, you are indeed VERY close with the final score/result prediction!     But so was I!  In fact, up until 2:30 left in the 4th quarter, when Seattle was leading 24-21, I was actually looking GREAT in terms of a prognosticator,,,,,AND A bettor!   Let me explain, before I turn to GLOATING about the game and its results!      I actually placed a bet on the game (I will NOT say with whom or where) whereby I bet Seattle +2, and took the UNDER (47-1/2 points)  and made my 50 dollar bet a parlay with the two components......if I won it would have paid a handsome $128.50 (i.e. I would have cashed out for 178.50)!!!!   And up until 2 minutes and 30 seconds, just before the patriots scored the go ahead touchdown to make the score 28-24 Pats, I was looking very good indeed in terms of my BET!     But also, I was also extremely depressed because it looked like my team was on the verge of LOSING!I made the bet because it was advantageous to do so, plus it was a way to alleviate any potential misery and sadness I would surely have felt if my team were to LOSE .....plus there was the off chance, with me getting +2 with the seahawks, I might actually WIN both ways (if new england won by one or two points witht he total score being less than 48 points, I could celebrate my team winning  AND cashing out a ticket worth at least the value of my original bet if the Pats won by two points, or the full amount if they only won by one point!)but I knew that if my team won handily (which it did even though the score was close and the outcome exciting and in doubt),  even though I would lose my 50 bucks, it was still WELL worth it to have the hedge against abject misery!YEAH PATS!!!!    YEAH BRADY!!!     Now surely this ends any debate about whether New England is the greatest sustained  Dynasty in NFL history!!!

Yes very close too. Glad the Pats won, but I still don't think one team was any better than the other. Still can't get that play call out of my head. I don't bet on sports so that part didn't matter to me, I just simply cannot understand it unless the Seahawks feared a fumble on the run. Makes no sense at all.

To no one's surprise, I didn't care for either team....BUT, I must admit, tonight's game was one of the most entertaining and enjoyable Super Bowls EVAH....Either team could have won or lost because of bizarre yet awesome plays....see you in Sept, my fave sport....
