Re: Cedar Point
when it comes to trusting anyone or anything, i am with KO. and, it is not just limited to money. does 'we will be welcome into iraq with open arms' or 'keep your plan-keep your doctor-save $2500 per family', ring a bell? Really love this quote.....it sums up why I am neutral when it comes to politics even though you may not believe it.....you just showed why and how BOTH Dems and Republicans are not to be trusted.I do not understand why it is we DISAGREED as much as we did....I totally AGREE with this, plus everything else you said in the post about casinos, and state regulators and the purpose of casinos, etc etc......I especially like th epoint you made about how regulators and officials in the state agencies and government that facilitate casino gambling and then are responsible for "monitoring" the casinos may be in a conflict of interest when, later on, they quit their state job and work for the casino at a HUGE jump in salary & perks! This is what is wrong with our Congress and federal government......too many reps and senators win election saying they will "fight this" or "oppose that" or "fix this", and then they get to washington and some fat cat lobbyist or industry rep whispers in their ear about a looming corporate job "7 years from now, AFTER you push through this legislation (or defeat some other legislation) etc"!!!This whole thread is rehashing points I made and echoed long ago about my experiences in AC, yet it seems when I MADE these type of comments, a lot of people went batturd crazy at me for even SUGGESTING that video poker over the past 3-4 years has changed for the worse!!!! wtf?Anyway, keep it going, I like this thread and what people are saying......

Well a lot of my confidence still stems from the fact that many states have bothered to write laws that generally say the same thing over and over. Also a vast majority of casinos use igt for VP, which I have more faith in as a gaming company. I feel like they have a lot to lose if it was proven that the machines don't work like they should. And the way most casino floors are set for VP and slots today, they are definitely winning in the end, just not as much as they used to because too many places allow gambling now. Casino supply outweighs demand unfortunately. Especially for video poker. :(
Well I know I'd love to play more but it just got so darn expensive to play like I used to, which is something I hear so many other players say also. The cost of playing just became greater, now I could understand if I could point toward the pay tables but I can't. You know I used to go to the casino/casinos and have a night where I walked out with 4/5/6 W2-G's, most I ever had in one night was eight, that never happens now, it stopped a long time ago for me. I'd pretty much just play until I was tired. Now I have to play smart and be frugal because I wasn't getting the big hits as often, lost a lot of money chasing the game I got used to playing for so many years. My confidence in the system was the exact thing that bit me in the butt, you can only take so much abuse before you start to lose faith. I played for around 15 years and didn't pay any real attention to the statistics and pay tables, I just enjoyed playing. Man when those hits started to decline I dug in and started to learn what was what. It's a rare treat for me to see 2 W2-G's now, most of the time I'm lucky to see one.

VP player after player, come to this forum, and comments about how the cost of playing VP has risen. a growing number of players are trying anything, to be able to continue playing the game they enjoy, without breaking their personal bank accounts. some of these comments are coming from players with decades of experience, and they are reluctant to call their observations, outright cheating by the casinos. the math folks have done a good job of explaining how reduced paytables have caused some of this increased cost of playing. but, it just does not seem to explain it all.

VP player after player, come to this forum, and comments about how the cost of playing VP has risen. a growing number of players are trying anything, to be able to continue playing the game they enjoy, without breaking their personal bank accounts. some of these comments are coming from players with decades of experience, and they are reluctant to call their observations, outright cheating by the casinos. the math folks have done a good job of explaining how reduced paytables have caused some of this increased cost of playing. but, it just does not seem to explain it all.My point all along, even if it was centered and focused on Atlantic City.......and now that Atlantic city has imploded (EVEN if there "seems" to be a small recent uptick in the remaining casinos revenue), this further implies and indicates that conditions are ripe for a POTENTIAL situation in which struggling casinos, faced with imminent death anyway, might start messing with their machines.1) I do not subscribe to the belief that there literally is NO WAY for a casino to modify or "mess" with how a typical CERTIFIED and APPROVED video poke rmachine actually works, how its RNG is supposedly inviolate and impervious to outside attempts to modify it.....I actually believe in many of the accounts and stories I have heard over the years that there is a number of menus, options and user-defined utilities that would allow a casino to (if they wish) impact the play results BEYOND SIMPLY slashing paytables. And just because a machine has a "seal" or some other device on it does not make it impervious to tampering or modification....any more than a "No trespassing" sign will keep a burglar or vandal off a property!Slashing paytables will ONLY work for a small amount of time and yield limited increased revenue (UNLESS THE CASINO ALSO, in tandem, offers a significant increase in COMPS or perks as incentive to play the awful paytable machines.) This is irrefutable and we have actually seen the end results of decreasing paytable.....casinos LOSE market share (and hence revenue) if the slash machine return % without compensating in some other way or area.2) The "REGULATORY" authorities (or officials) in places like AC, and no doubt everywhere else except NEVADA, are under great pressure to constantly do more with less resources. They have suffered SEVER cutbacks, layoffs and have seen their duties continue to expand and increase as crime and fraud and other concerns continue to rise. It is that simple folks......the casinos in places like AC are actually under LESS AND LESS scrutiny, inspections etc in today's market/environment. IF there ever was a time (or chance) that a casino would pull some crap, it is NOW, TODAY, and in places where the business is tanking. How can you argue with this logic? And please, before you accuse me of making baseless accusations, please note I never said 100% it IS HAPPENING.....I said IF.....IF, meaning it could very well happen or be happening, we just do not know.3) Contrary to what a few (very few in the grand scheme of things) video poker players insist is happening, MOST VP players over the past 4-5 years have seen fewer wins, handpays and jackpots, and greater overall losses and losing sessions combined with less and less comps. Sure, you can always find a EXCEPTION, but that proves nothing.......

"Ride to the sound of the guns men" - George Armstrong CusterYeah, and then he yelled "Ok Boys, ONE MORE stand and we can all go home..."The man was an idiot, pure and simple.....a self centered, arrogant, idiot.....General William Tecumseh Sherman said as much when he was with PRESIDENT Ulysses S. Grant in the white house on June 28, 1876 when they received word via telegraph that the massacre of custer and his men had taken place three days earlier (on June 25, 1876)....and if you recall Grant was Custer's commanding officer during the Civil war 10 years prior so that tells you something too.....

Actually Lee surrendered to Grant on April 9 1865. As for Grant being Custer's commanding officer during the American Civil War you are correct. But because Grant was Commanding General of the U.S. Army; he was EVERYONE'S commanding officer who served in the U.S. Army.
