"Actually Lee surrendered, etc etc..."    who mentioned Lee?Grant obviously was everyone's commanding officer except for Halleck (and Lincoln), but from March 1864 until the end, Grant spent his time in the field campaigning (military NOT political), attached to the Union Army of the Potomac, and Custer was a Brigadier General commanding a division of cavalry attached to the Army of the Potomac, so Grant saw him on a frequent basis and (during this time) Custer was well regarded by Grant.......until 10 years later.

When you said that the American Civil War was 10 years prior to Custer's demise at Little Big Horn (I have been there, as well as: Gettysburg, Hanover, Vicksburg, Appamattox, Ft. Sumter, Shiloh, Lexington, Concord, Valley Forge, New Orleans, The Alamo, Boston, Philladelphia, and many more), you brought Lee in. I pointed out that the American Civil War ended more than 10 years before Little Big Horn. Gen. Meade led the Army of the Potomac while Grant established his headquarters, attaching to the Army of the Potomac.

See what we started. Sometimes we just can't help ourselves. ....Traveling with my little brother and my Grandfather and Grandmother in their new 1951 Plymouth was an experience I will never forget. Starting from NewPort News and taking back roads and Rt11 all the way to the Cumberland Gap area to visit my Great Grandparents. Back then all of the Civil War damaged homes, farms, and Mansions hadn't been renovated or torn down. We would stop and look at the cannon ball holes in them. Also stop for a good ol Frozen Custard or Pal orange drink. I learned more history then than I ever did in school since my mom's family lived through the civil war or at least some of them survived. We would stop where some of the skirmishes took place that never made the history books. Even when we got to the farm, there were trees that still had balls in them or some would turn up in the soil when turned over once in awhile. I know this doesn't cover vp at the moment, but this is something the younger generation will never experience. As far as poker goes, my grandfather taught me how to play and us kids and grandfather would play for matchsticks or buckeyes. I guess that was the beginning of my interest in vp.

I have not been to many actual battlefields or parks, I just read and studied all about them....Military history, along with History in General(world, U.S., European, Political, Economic, etc) are hobbies of mine that also were a heavy part of my education (which made me lucky I guess because what other students saw as drudgery or 'boring" I enjoyed)Someday I hope to engage in a extended, continuous (say two or three months) tour of Civil War battlefields traveling all across the country (east of the mississippi).....perhaps Spring - Summer of 2016 or Autumn 2016.....??Read the "Army of the Potomac"  by Bruce Catton, and then the three volume (or Two Volume if you buy the HUGE HARD COVER books) Series by Shelby Foote that covers the civil war battles "From Manassas to Appomattox"....if you can absorb these two works then you pretty much know all there is to know about Meade, Grant, Sherman and the Army of the Potomac during the American civil war.....Of course, Virginia has the MOST battlefields of any State from the Civil war, but Tennessee has the second most, and in my opinion, the more INTERESTING and dynamic battlefields as well.......in fact many of the battles that took place in Tennessee (or just outside the state) are actually FAR more important and critical to the outcome and course of the US civil war, with the exceptions being Gettysburg and VICKSBURG.And most serious students and experts of the civil war know that it was VICKSBURG that sealed the fate of the War, ensured Union Victory and doomed the Confederacy, but due to the fact Vicksburg fell on the day AFTER Gettysburg (july 4 1863)  and was located so far west while Gettysburg was so close to everyone meant Vicksburg would never receive the attention or study that Gettysburg received. But Tennessee had so many critical battles during the all important years of 1862 and 1863 when the war hung in the balance.......but my own personal favorite battle to study was the Battle of Franklin which did not happen until November 30, 1864, when the war  was almost over, but had the campaign that preceded the battle of Franklin (known as Hood's Springhill-Nashville Campaign/Offensive gone the other way, the war would have dragged on for another year perhaps)........Everyone knows of Pickett's charge from Gettysburg, but only true civil war historians know about the "Charge at Franklin" which was far greater, larger and deadlier than Picketts charge!

Franklin is a couple of hours west of the old family farm which is in Va, but nearly on the border. Thus my cited quote about artillery being worth a thousand muskets. A frontal charge like that is unbelievable and to think they almost pulled it off. Unfortunately, I have never toured the grounds, but hopefully, before I get too old to travel I can get down there.

I thought I would update my original post, I've been back to this casino a few times and I'm glad to say it's growing on me. I'm growing kind of fond of the laid back atmosphere and the employees can't be beat, some of the nicest people I have ever met.

Hopefully your results are a bit more in line too? Or at least not getting so many 9s that you want to hold on to them?

Also remember they have 8/5 Super DDB if you would want a change up from your normal game. Some strategy changes though. Most notably hold a face or ace kicker with trip face cards.

Yeah I'd say the results are making a little more sense now, nothing to jump up and down about, pretty normal for hands played. As far as the 9's go I quit paying attention, could have been one of those days where things were going real bad and I started looking for them. The couple that told me to get used to seeing them were probably in the same boat as me, just having a bad day. I do like the fact that they have the old style machines that are well taken care of, I played every vp machine they have in the place and didn't find a single button or graphic issue, that says a lot in itself. I haven't played much Super DDB because I got burnt playing it a few years back, dealt 4-A's with a king, was so used to playing DDB and TDB I tossed the king, I felt like I was going to be sick after I realized my mistake. As far as that casino goes I would still make some changes to that waterfall/fountain, it's kind of dreary and spooky.

Ouch about tossing that kicker.

That's one draw back about switching games, especially if you go on auto-pilot. Don't blame you for not wanting to play that game anymore.

Last trip to Tunica I got 4 Aces with a Jack on JoB at Horseshoe a few hours after playing Super DDB at Resorts. Damn timing!
