I think there is a difference in perception, as well as DEFINITION (like I said , "semantics") concerning some of the terms being bandied about here........when Ted says Loss/Limit, it might not be exactly what others think of in the same terms.....$500 is not INSIGNIFICANT in many casinos and markets these days.......since I play 25 cents denom, if I play with 500 bucks out of my pocket (i.e. put it in the machine) and play until it is either GONE or I hit some predetermined GOAL of either PROFIT, or Player's club points or reward credits/comp dollars, I could very well be looking at a nice LOnnnnng session of play, which will put you on the "radar" in terms of receiving offers, mailers, comps etc.I will concede one thing definitely to Ted:  He plays at casinos I myself have NEVER EVER visited, so it is likely he has much better experiences than my last 3-4 years of visits to AC, because quite simply, ANYTHING is better than AC!

That is one pretty picture of that Royal Flush dealt on the 100 hundred hand machine. That is one high bet though

I would say right around 35k at Mohegan Sun on a Multi-Strike game. Royal on the top line so it was times 8 and the guy was playing dollars. However, the biggest win I ever saw on anything was a lady who hit a 2 seater penny machine progressive for 2.3 M a few years ago at Mohegan Sun. That one made the news. I think I already posted about it some time ago. Finally, not vp, but many years ago I had a 55 minute roll on a craps table. I made almost nothing since I had no budget to speak of that day and was just playing the pass line. However, there were several 50k winners at the table that day. One was nice enough to tip me 300 bucks.

I’ve seen that woman too you’ve been talking about. Do you think she’s gonna play again? Lol

Many years ago, maybe 15-20 years. Tropicana AC had a bank of .25 quarter 9/6 DB progressives with a top progressive for a sequential royal in each suit. Saw an older man with a confused look on his face holding a large cardboard check for something like $250,000 plus dollars getting his picture taken. His expression was priceless with the flashes going off. "What the heck just happened"

Saw an older man with a confused look on his face holding a large cardboard check for something like $250,000 plus dollars getting his picture taken. His expression was priceless with the flashes going off. "What the heck just happened"Well before my time but I actually remember HEARING about that story from the staff at the TROP when I first starting going to AC in 2009......my first year and a half to two years in AC I played and stayed primarily at the TROP, it was my "base" of operations so to speak and I actually received a lot of comps and perks my first two years there .... it all suddenly evaporated On January 1, 2012, literally.....I was stunned when I arrived for my usual three night stay Friday afternoon until Monday Morning and was told by both my host and the check-in girl that my rooms would not be comp'd but instead I would pay a "preferred customer rate" of $79 bucks for Friday night, 129 for saturday and ONLY Sunday would be "free".....literally they pulled the carpet out from under a whole boatload of players, obviously as a way to cut expenses in the face of the rapidly deteriorating business situation.I promptly cut and ran and took all my business to CET, Resorts and the AC club for the next 6 months until I decided on a NEW base of operations in June 2012 (it would be RESORTS and a sizable secondary position at CET AC properties to keep the free rooms coming...)I am sharing this in respone to Carcounter's post to illustrate how "BAD" the decision by all the AC properties, the past 3-4 years, to drastically cut costs actually worsened their overall business position.....removing a popular Video Poker game like that progressive machine really causes a lot of consternation on the part of regular customers, who are very particular about how and where they spend their time and money! How is it that all these high paid "EXECUTIVES" are seemingly so clueless and inept???    Seriously, HOW????    How have they been able to drive the casino market in AC literally into the ground the last 7-8 years and learn NOTHING along the way from the mistakes that they made or moves that backfired and exacerbated the situation???

I have not played at the Trop since the .50 9/5 double jokers were removed. They were old Sigma's that I believe finally crapped out and were replaced with something else. There is no reason for a VP player to go there in my opinion. Not when the Borgota has better games and a far better playing environment.

I don't get their or any casino's thinking at all in your scenario DB. Maybe, maybe, thier cost for the 3 nights would have been 300 bucks or so. In a 3 night's stay, any quarter player could easily drop a grand if not much more. If you have a spouse or friend with you, you can add their losses on too and if you win, they should know you will be back sooner than later. Edited to add, reminds me of a failing restaurant ( and I have seen many do this), raise prices, cut quality, and cut portions. Soon you can drop the ing and add an ed.

DaBurglar how does your story relate to Carcounter's? Do youy attribute your loss of comps at the Trop to the lucky gentleman's hit on the machine and the Trop was just then cutting corners in order to make up for the win?

Guy by the name of Tony Rodio assumed management of the Trop sometime in late 2011, when many of us players there were getting decent comps and perks......apparently he analyzed the situation and came to the conclusion that (in his words according to a friend who attended their Elite players dinner in December 2011, just before the comps were slashed) "Too many players are getting too much ..."     Soon after, we were heading for the door......Carl Icahn purchased the Trop and saved it by drastically cutting costs so clearly this was mandated from on high......The trop AC is in better shape than the Taj and the destitute CET properties, but that's about it and it is not saying much.....recently the Trop AC supposedly started to become mor egenerous again, but I have not experienced it personally.
