3 of a kind

Post by Fourdcs »

It seems I get an abnormal amount of 3 of a kinds.  Many of the machines I sit down too, I get delt 3 A LOT, or hold 2 and get a 3rd.  I just can't get that 4th card.  Of course I can usually sit and play for a while because I get full houses.
Does this happen to others of you?  What's the deal?  It's frustrating....

What do you mean by "A LOT"? Where do you play? What game and paytable do you play? How many VP sessions have you played where you see this happen? More details might help us answer the question.

We play at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City.  I play Double Bonus, DD bonus and Bonus Poker Delux.  Quarter denominations.  I usually play at least 2 hours - if I win, I'll play longer.  I know the pay table is important, but I don't pay that much attention to it.
It's not uncomman for me to get 20 + 3 OAK's on several machines in a night.
Hope this helps & thanks.

What would you expect is abnormal?  If you play a lot of hands, I would expect a good number of trips. It's not uncommon in the slightest. Thus, the low payout.

On average you should see dealt trips about every 47 hands. So, if you play at 600 hands/hour you should get 12-13 trips dealt each hour. If you play faster or slower that could impact this number. Hitting trips from a pair occurs more often than dealt trips and you should see a few holding single face cards. I can go into more detail when I have a little more time. Does this seem reasonable with what you are seeing?

Yes, you've hit it almost exactly.  It just seems like many of the machines I play it does it.  Last night I found four machines that had that fourth card.  Let us play for a while.  Thanks for the info it really helped.
