Almost...Last summer Phil and I met up at Mohegan. Due mostly to family obligations at home, I play most of the night into early AM. and Phil is an early riser around the time I am just getting to bed. Actually, I haven't played in a couple of weeks. Mom has been in the hospital and I have been extremely busy with both mom and dad. Any prayers coming this way greatly appreciated.

This is a very interesting subject.   Less players means less hands played which could equal more time between jackpots?  The casinos in Florida are always full of players and video poker is still a very popular game.  I think it's because affluent seniors and well heeded tourists have not been affected as much by job losses or the economic downturn.  Perhaps this is why I haven't seen the big drop in jackpot frequency that others on this forum have reported?  It does seem to me that I get way more quad deuces in Florida than in Biloxi or Cherokee.  Could also be my imagination...

Well it seemed interesting to me when the host mentioned it to me. I didn't really even know vp machines had cycles, still not sure if they do. The introduction of the idea that me and just a few others may be the only ones pushing the machine thru it's cycle seemed logical even if it's all crap.

ko, i think this entire subject of cycles really makes a lot of sense. even if the RNG is really true and anything can happen at any time, the law of averages has to take over at some point.   but, the question still remains, did the poor returns start first, as a result of something we are unaware of, or did the poor results happen as result of less play. great topic!

Dealing with aging parents is very stressful.  Let's pray that God gives you the strength to get through this hard time in your life.  We're thinking about you...

I'd have to search a few years back in the threads but I posed the question of "could fewer players have an effect on my results". Best I can remember it was Shawdowman that told me my results would be based on my hands played, so I'm guessing in his opinion I was just having a bad stretch of play. I've always been a machine hopper, always played the same exact game at the same denomination but I never sit still. Year after year that method of play worked pretty well for me, had several really big nights, now finding a quality hand is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Most of my play now is dedicated to another casino because I do much better there, same pay tables, same games, only thing I can see with my own eyes is there are way more players playing the games. I only bring up the topic of cycle times because I go to various plants to time machines to make sure they are working correctly or to see if changes can be made to improve the production/output of product, I can adjust the cycle times of almost every piece of machinery in every plant with the push of a button. Now I have no idea if vp machines have an option like this or even if it would have an effect on a players return, just posing a question.

I am one that leaves hits on the machines and move, I have been back a week later and the same hit still there.Holy cow. A week is an eternity. That is all the first hand evidence you need to quit playing there. Do you recall the last royal flush anybody had there? It almost reminds me of Showboat in AC, which was so empty last year. Not much winning to be had at all, even for quads!

I hit a quad while playing $2 denomination DDB for $500, I cashed out
for $515. We left town to take case of some business and stopped back by
late the next day and the machine still showed the $515 player paid. That's a nice payout. Some people, myself included, are irrationally spooked about paying machines that just paid big. That has to be considered as well.
