Close but no cigars

Post by olds442jetaway »

I have posted before that Double Down Stud Bonus Deuces Wild is my favorite game, with regular Deuces wild on Double Down Stud a close second. I have had no luck on draw poker Deuces Wild using Fla Phil's method, but still believe in it from a loss control standpoint. That said, I just modified it a little to better fit the above game available at Mohegan Sun and hope one day to hit the big one. I am not counting on it though. My only session in the last few weeks lasted about 5,000 hands. Some of the machines at Mohegan Sun allow you to bet up to 25 quarters on the Double Down Stud game. When you hit 4 of a kind which if I remember happens every 82 hands or so, you get paid 12 for 1 after doubling your single coin. On 4 different occasions on that session, I when I went to max bet after hitting the quads, I was dealt 4 to a real Royal. If any of them had hit on the last card, it would have paid 25k. Alas, close, but no cigar.

Premium hands don't come very often and when using the Cheap Strategy you often find yourself hitting one at single coin.  This can and does happen, but the increased number of hands played will work to your advantage and you will eventually hit a good jackpot at a much higher denomination than you normally play.  These "extra premium" hands need to be protected by fighting the temptation to play them back to the casino.  I believe money management is the single most important skill in video poker.   Perfect play, selecting the right games and having an adequate bankroll are all important, but are worthless if you are constantly giving back your winnings.   I'm not that lucky, I just got tired of paying the casino's payroll and light bill.

You will have many more opportunities when the odds of 4 to a royal on the deal is about 1 in 2700 hands.

I've yet to hit that last card after being drawn 4 to a royal. I hope it happens for you eventually!

And I got tired of paying for the extra wing ( Casino of the wind ) they opened up a couple of years ago. I think they call it Casino of the wind because they take all of the wind out of your sails if you let them.

Sounds to me like they should call it "Casino of the Empty Pockets"!

He's talking about double down stud here I think. Four to a royal in that game should only come...

4*5 / [52*51*50*49/(4*3*2*1)] = 20/270,725 = 1 in 13536.25 times on average. Almost 5 times less likely as standard draw poker.

Some years ago, I coined a new name that stuck even with the employees. Their non smoking section has a big sign as you are entering. " Hall of Lost Tribes " It is now known by many as the Hall of Lost Dollars... .

Right Vman, so having 4 chances in a session, was really fun even though it didn't hit. When you and gf finally get up here someday ( hopefully before I have to use a cane or walker ), for that trip the name of that section will be known as Hall of many beers. Some really good micro brews on tap from time to time besides the usual ones. There will be some great places to get the camera warmed up too throughout. PS....If you come on a Friday night, make sure you stay up and close the bar as it is Little Black Dress night in the club and the gals don't have to pay a cover if they dress up that way.
