Re: oregon VP
have not been to Caesars in AC , for a couple of years, but they had a row of them. just like the Oregon situation, using the auto hold is an OPTION, not mandatory. the problem with the oregon situation was that because it was state run, the implication to the 'novice' player was that the auto hold was the best play, when it was not. and, the governemnt folks knew it.

Someone on the VPFREE forum posted a screenshot of a Oregon Lottery game. Surprising there is no Royal Flush payout increase from 4 to 8 coins, but rather the Straight Flush and the 4oaK are improved.
Oregon has a law in bars to not allow a win greater than $600. Illinois bars have a $500 cap and does similar things to keep the overall return increasing the more you bet. This is assuming you play the optimal strategy of course. In Illinois, it can get pretty weird with an 8 credit bet because in some games any straight flush will pay $500.
Re: Bob's Article
I'm a little disappointed (but not surprised) that he doesn't really side with the players here. He basically says they're stupid to play the game in the first place, screw them even more if they blindly believe "advice".
Also I believe auto hold games exist at South Point as well on the U1 machines. Those however should be accurate.

I forgot the IRS requires winnings of $600 or more as a taxable income source on lottery winnings. Hence the limit of $600 winnings at the bars and the royal flush at $1 bet will yield the limit.
I am not surprised at what Dancer had to say about this matter, knowing how much criticism he offered in the past posts and the radio show for people settling for 9/5 DDB. I suppose this particular video poker game is available for non-serious recreational players who want to take a small shot and play a few hands at a decent prize. Something Bob is not able to understand. The biggest advantage the lottery has over a casino is location (Native American reservations) and availability, one does not need to travel far as lottery games are everywhere, even though the high edge goes to state funded agendas such as law enforcement and education.
