Big Test in Colorado

Our spring Colorado video poker road trip is coming up in two weeks.  We'll be playing in Black Hawk and Cripple Creek.   The trip will be an entire week of solid video poker, so the goal is to not give up money.  I do pretty well on my weekly trips, but these video poker marathons always seem to take a bite out of my bankroll. This is exactly the scenario that the Cheap Strategy was designed for.  Last year, I stuck to the quarter strategy for the whole week.  I got lucky and hit a max coin $1,000 royal early on and came home with a small win for the week.  I wasn't taking the $5 pot shots back then, so the royal was most appreciated.  Playing Cheap Strategy quarters, it only takes one $1,000 jackpot to stay even for the week.  Two or more would put me in a decent profit.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one or more of these happens. I'm way ahead this year so it won't be all that bad, but as I've said many times "I hate losing money!".

It is inevitable that the more you play, the more you will lose in the long run on a negative expectation game. Anyhow, if this is a vacation you would not mind spending money. I've thought about this and you have a good point.  With odds over 99%, it does make sense to consider playing max coins. The interesting thing about Colorado is that the quarter odds are sometimes better than $1 games.  That's exactly the opposite of Florida. We'll see what happens.  Can't wait!

I respect what the Cheap Strategy is about for long trips and bad paytables, but in this case, single coin Airport Deuces or the Good Deuces loses more money theoretically per hand than max bet NSU Deuces! Thus the Cheap Strategy will hurt you more than it will benefit. If you have the Dancer and Daily guides Volume 4, it is best to bring that with you.
