I've lurked on Mendelson Best Buy and Wizard of Vegas forums, there are
number of people who gave back an entire royal flush payout to the
casino during the same session they won it. Been there, done that...  Now you know why I play cheap.   The question to ask Bob Dancer is not how much he has won in a day, it's how much he has lost...  So you want to be a pro do you?
I remember reading past articles from Mr. Dancer's LasVegasAdvisor site and it even happened with him as well.
W2Gs are more a function of the stakes I play, rather than how good I am, or even what my score is for that day. One time earlier this year, I lost about $20,000 on a play --- and collected $30,000 in W2Gs along the way. People who just hear about the jackpots have a very distorted picture of my actual score.
I can understand people getting a Royal Flush early on and losing it all, those Double Double Bonus or Aces and Faces Bonus are so volatile that a quad less drought can be painfully devistating. I did get quad aces in DDB one visit, but lost it all on the next visit, as well as a big loss the next time after so I lost interest in being a DDB player. Not to be very ashamed of, but seeing the long term picture is the key. Having a safe amount of money is also key to survive, I am too poor to pursue professional VP.

On last night's radio show, Mr. Dancer reported an overall win for 2014. It was regarding the topic of professional / part-time gambler tax implications.

seeing the long term picture is the key. Having a safe amount of money is also key to survive. We learned this the hard way. I recklessly gambled up a storm having brought a huge roll for me. Three hours later, I had lost two thirds of it.
