Re: tips on hand pays

I sometimes tip the b room attendants, but I do have a thing about tipping slot attendants and having to wait to get paid by a person because the machine won't give you the slip or cash. I get so few hand pays anyway these days and none since last October. I just give them a few bucks for coffee money unless they are unusually nice or helpful. Like vman, I always thank the cleanup people in the play area and once in awhile tip them too. The drink server staff or restaurant servers get the bulk of my tips. We don't have a host anymore, so the concierge staff all get gifts from time to time or on holidays. I also write probably a dozen or so letters or emails a year to employee supervisors for those employees who imo have gone above and beyond.

I agree with olds, most of my tip goes to drink servers and restaurant waiters/waitresses.

Lots of people tip on a $100 win or a 6 to 1 win on a table game like Three Card Poker and Ultimate Texas Holdem. Long term it adds up. One reason I stopped playing those games, the social aspect with the dealer rooting for you to win is nice, but must think in the long run.

I don't get many hand pays, but when I do I like to tip.  Once I was playing in Biloxi and the floor person suggested I play a certain machine.  I walked over and hit a $4,000 royal on his machine within 5 minutes.   I gave him $100 and he seemed pretty happy.  What I hate to see is when people don't tip the drink girls.   These gals walk around all day in those high heels and work like dogs.  I am always nice to them and like to see their faces light up when you give them a good tip. Being nice never hurt anyone.

Being nice and treating everyone with dignity sure seems to return the positives in life.

We always tip the drink servers $1.00 every time they provide us water and/or soft drinks.

Speaking of tips, be aware that it is rarely the attendant's fault if your hand pay is slow. Depending on the scheduling, there can simply be more jackpots going on at once than there are attendants to handle them. And jackpots refuse to occur in an orderly pattern --- something about Lady Luck. There can be none for a while, then all the machines start singing at the same time. The uneven pattern of jackpot timing also affects the cashier's cage, and the attendant who is trying to hurry with your hand pay may very well be standing in line behind other hurrying attendants at the cage. Unless lack of attention and lack of effort is obvious, I don't withhold a tip because of lack of speed in being paid. I play for a certain amount of time anyway, and because I generally take a check I'm ok with waiting for a while.
