The gold mining stories about Cripple Creek are really interesting if anyone cares to read up on them. By the way, I agree with Notes on all of this political correctness bs. and mainstream media. Now back to vp posts I guess. Can't think of anything else vp related to add on this thread.

It's possible, that some of the folks on this site are simply tired of almost every post becoming an argument between a very small handful of members. Quite frankly, it's getting old.
That being said, Cripple Creek Colorado was founded in the early 1870's.
The name Cripple Creek happened quite by accident. It is said a cattleman was building a shelter close to a nearby creek assisted by a helper. The helper accidentally discharged a gun, wounding another man in the foot. The excitement and confusion frightened a calf, which broke its leg jumping over the creek. The calf was crippled causing the rancher to refer to the creek as "Cripple Creek." Thanks for actually taking the time and effort to post this.....This thread proves a lot of things, among them that people who claim to be annoyed by all the "hypersensitive" political correctness they imagine they see are in actuality manifesting the exact SAME thing they claim to annoyed by....they are themselves hypersensitive to other people's politically correct hypersensitivity!       absurdSociety progresses and evolves and advances, and as we do certain words and perceptions become unacceptable and offensive to many people.......I myself am absolutely NOT offended by the name "cripple creek" but I am definitely curious and surprised by such a name, but it never reached IN ME the level of intense feelings and opinions that others revealed on related issues and subjects.Just because the tragic events in ferguson SEEM to have been muddied to the extent that NO one is sure what happened DOES not change the fact that in many many other parts of the country, in many cities and towns, there are racist people and racist law enforcement perpetrating awful acts and behavior....we know they are.    The sad thing is there are MANY MANY police officers who are DECENT fair minded people dedicated to doing the right thing, and they are being undermined by a minority of  either apathetic incompetent cops who have NO business being on the street with a gun, or hateful sadistic cops with an attitude of scumbag entitlement by virtue of their badge who have NO business being on the street with the authority to essentially "mess with" anyone anywhere anytime.....And Just because some IDIOTIC Rolling Stone reporter thought no one would fact check the story they wrote on UVA  Frat rape  DOES not  mean that elsewhere at other frats across the country at other colleges  there are not shameful acts of alcohol induced sexual assault taking place.....if you have ever been in and around fraternities you KNOW what can (and does) happen within the walls of such places, BUT it also DOES NOT mean that ALL frats are like that either!

the sign of a true 'perpetually outraged' person is that even when some accusation is proven to be false, it does not matter. because somewhere out there, somebody else really did commit some offense, so why not use some made up story to get your point across. who cares if the story is inaccurate, who cares if some innocent person was falsely accused, it is more important to correct a perceived wrong.   are there some bad cops, of course, they need to be weeded out. but what occupation does not have some bad apples. when some 'disadvantaged person' is holding a gun to your head, who are you going to call to help you, some other 'outraged' person or the ACLU? I will call a cop. you know who the cops spend most of their time helping....the poor, the disadvantaged, minorities. do you know the number one cause of death for young minorities- gunshots, not by cops, but from other minorities. when something bad is happening and the rest of us are running away, the cops are running toward the problem. when the media and the 'outraged' spend even one tenth the time talking about the good cops, instead of focusing all their attention on the small number of abuses, i will then consider listening to them. b/t/w, i am not a cop, not related to a cop, i am just fed up with the media and the outraged

As much as I love this country, I can see a huge change in the makeup of the average person in the population and how they can be swayed by mainstream media or any other bs that may come their way. Much of the population only cares about what goes on in Hollywood and the not so private lives of various celebrities. Oh, they can tell you all about the people on TV and great detail about their lives and goings on, yet have no idea how many branches of Government we have which by the way is rapidly approaching 1 the way I see it. Sorry gang, still can't think of any vp to talk about here. Oh maybe one small thing. After getting creamed today at the casino, I played my twenty bucks in free play and cauget a Wild Royal on Double Down Stud which returned all of my lost money and enough for a coffee/and too.

We are in the Denver Airport on our way home.  We just had one of the nicest video poker vacations ever.   After seven solid days of video poker, we left up $1,000.  This included the $2K Royal and seven sets of quad deuces.  We played max coins the whole time. My wife stayed at quarters and I moved up every time my $20 turned into $40.   I hit 3 $500 quad deuces and the 2K royal using this strategy.  The odds are really good here, but you still have to look around to find them.  Bronco Billy's has NSU deuces in three play.  I tried it for a while and walked away even.  Triple play is a little too rich for my bankroll.  Single line quarter deuces is more common at 98.9%.   Black Hawk has six single line NSU deuces games on the second floor of the Monarch casino.   We actually did much better at the 98.9% games, probably because we played it more. All in all we highly recommend Black Hawk.  Cripple Creek is fun, but we're not sure we'll go back.  It's great for a day trip not much else.  I would live in Black Hawk permanently  if I could.  We love the place!

WTG Mr. and Mrs. Phil. Good show on the deuces quads hits too. I wonder if you guys together played about 35k hands or if they were just hitting more than average. ( 7x5k) would be about average I guess. Always nice to hear about one's good time win or lose.

I must say DB that your esoteric anologies got me this time. I am considering taking a headache pill and I never take that stuff for the most part.
