DB, that relics reference cracks me up. The Taj relics are truly dreadful, no question. Resorts look just as ancient. Bally's is also in the City Dive running after the Atlantic Club, Showboat and Trump Plaza shuttered. They've got some relics too, especially those crazy uncomfortable uprights. Not only did I lose, I had to stiff arm it on each spin. Do pick a machine that lets you rest your forearms and bend your elbows. I just couldn't find any user friendly 9/6s. I believe Ballys has completely converted all its VP to server based games......but many of the other AC properties (even Borgata) have STILL, many many machines that are 12, 15 or more years old!     But of course, as is the case with places like Borgata, IF you keep the machines properly maintained, and keep them clean and immaculate looking, then it does not really matter! And we also realize that, while the machine itself may be from as far back as the late 1990s, the SOFTWARE running on the machine can be brand new, thus displaying on the screens some VERY VERY cool and up to date images and game features/menus, etc etcI prefer the older IGT style games even in this day and age......Regarding the problem with "DOUBLE UP":      At Resorts-AC, where almost all the machines have DOUBLE UP on the Video Poker games (but it is NOT a DISPLAY option, ONLY a BUTTON  to actually access and play "DOUBLE UP" following a win).....if a player is playing too fast, or is otherwise NOT careful, they can easily hit the double up BUTTON that is perilously close to the DEAL/DRAW button.       Well, about 9 months ago,  I was sitting at one of the machines in front of the security booth at Resorts-AC, and the guy to my left was playing  DDB  25 cents .....  he was dealt  quad 4s with an ACE!   he holds all his cards and hits deal and wins 800 credits.......I say to him "good job!"  and we high five and all that......he gets up from his seat for a moment apparently to look for his wife to show her, and also (i guess) to stretch, and then he sits back down to play some more.....now, the HIT is still on the screen, and the DOUBLE up is still active!      And naturally, he accidentally hits the DOUBLE UP and BOOM!  Up pops the screen with Five cards, one on the left face up and the other four face down! The poor guy is almost immediately in crisis:  "OH NO!   What did I do?!?  how did that happen?!??!  Oh NO!!    What do I do?!?!?!?!?"  and on and on....    Now I am sitting there trying to stay calm and rational mainly for HIS benefit, but inside I am actually UPSET myself!    As  a regular player  you HATE to see crap like this happen.....Long story LONG.....the guy calls a slot attendant over and she basically tells him " there is NOTHING we can do......you HAVE to play it out!"      I basically KNEW this already, but we HAD to ask.......SO.......what did the guy actually GET for his double up card(s)?       Well, the card showing (the dealer's card) was a 9 (I think, it might have been and 8, but it was certainly a 'middling card')......the guy takes a deep breath and picks a WINNER (a Jack I think)!!!     1600 credits!!!!!      More high fives and congrats all around, etc.But a definite close call.....I cannot imagine how lousy he would have felt if he had lost!FYI:   You can request to have the Double option turned off, but sometimes you can wind up waiting a lonnnng time for the person to come by and turn it off for you....at Resorts, the last time I checked (back in December)  the regular slot people DO NOT (or will not) perform this very simple task......they have to have some "Tech" do it....do not ask me why, because, as I said, it is a VERY VERY easy adjustment.

Thought I would post an update regarding my biggest mistake. I think I have figured out what happened and why. Before anyone calls me an idiot let me first say I'm having to play at different casinos ever since Harrahs shut down here so I'm running into all kinds of different things in search of a casino to replace them. For years I only played at Harrahs, Roadhouse and Fitz. Roadhouse dropped their pay tables down, Fitz took all but two $2 denomination machines out so I'm having a hard time finding somewhere I like to play. Now back to where I think I've figured out what's going on. For years I've always sat down at a machine, put my money in, pused the left card hold button for the game I play (DDB), pushed the middle card hold button for denomination, then push the deal button, never been an issue. I went back to the casino where I had my mishap and noticed once I had clicked on the game I wanted play that it would switch when I chose the denomination, didn't do it on all the machines just some of them, not sure why. I went to another casino I have only been to a couple times and the same thing happened on some of the machines, not all of them. Went to another casino and I couldn't find a single machine that would switch so I decided to play there, still lost. While I'm still to blame I can blame it on ignorance, It's never happened to me at the other casinos I played at.

This happened to me on my vegas trip (report coming soon). I was distracted by talking to a drunk guy at the bar, and either the machine switched games due to inactivity or I switched games due to hitting buttons at the wrong time.

I expected $100 for quad 4s...only got $50 as it switched to Bonus. :(

Yeah, unfortunately that can happen when one talks to themselves at the bar...... Sorry vman, couldn't help myself on that one. Feel free to bust my ....s anytime here. On the upside, we finally hit one day with 70 degree temps and of course that means time to try some new beers in between yard work which I hate. Looking forward to the upcoming report as always...Olds....

My biggest mistake happened at Ballys AC too. A few years ago, I hit a $5500 Progressive on a Friday night. There were some shady characters around so after I got paid in hundreds immediately left, walked around and headed for the garage. I realized I left about $125 in credits on the machine. Went back and of course they were gone. Can't believe how lousy I felt even though I just won $5500.

Did that once that I remember. Similar circumstances though the amount was only 1500 I think. After I bolted and was 1/2 way to the garage, I realized what I had done and made the 100 yard dash back in a time to break all Olympic records. There had been a nice elderly gentleman playing next to me. ( more elderly than me ). He had cashed out my ticket for a hundred and some odd dollars and was holding it. He figured he would keep it for me until he was done playing and if I didn't show, he would of course cash it in. He didn't have lounge access, so I treated him to a nice dinner there when he was through playing and we have been vp buddies ever since. See him every couple of months or so up there.
I have done the same for others at least a dozen or more times. Sometimes the tickets are just a few bucks, but other times they were over a hundred. I never take money from anyone as a tip, but did see quite a few smiles on their faces when I held the ticket up in the air as they were rushing back to the machine.
