Cheating in the NFL, Deflategate - redux

Let me try to wrap my head around this Dab. You say that the Pats are good enough that they do not have to cheat to win. So why do they cheat? And let me remind you that this is not the first offense of cheating by the Pats. If a fan condones cheating, does that not say something about the character of said fan?

If a fan condones cheating, does that not say something about the character of said fan?I am not condoning cheating.....I never condone cheating........WHERE did I ever say it is ok cheat?I am a Patriots fan (lifelong, which means I was a FAN way way back in the 70s, 80s and early 90s when they sucked).....I am defending my team and their recent (last 15 years) UNPARALLELED success against this obvious overzealous, overblown, envious persecution by the rest of the league and country.I assume you have a favorite football team?   I am sure you stick up for them and back them and root for them when and where appropriate......THAT is all I am doing.NO WHERE in any of this does it warrant an assessment, or even a comment about my character.....on the contrary, the mere fact that YOU yourself are attempting to pass judgement on me and my character on a public forum, based on such trivial, insignificant, and shallow "evidence"  POTENTIALLY says MUCH more about your character than it does mine.

I hate cheaters like everyone else.....but let us be honest, there are cheaters, and then there are CHEATERS (or in other words, some cheating is borderline innocuous or meaningless, and some is flatout wrong and criminal, with stops in between.)      DaBurglar I cut the above from a post you made back in page 2 of this thread. What you wrote makes it appear that you are condoning cheating.  This looks to me like you are saying its o.k. to cheat as long as you just cheat a little.   To me, cheating is cheating. The is no "some borderline cheating."    Edited to add: Did I mention that last Friday I was near Hollywood Casino in Joliet so I decided to go in, have some lunch, and knock out my freeplay; walked out a little while later up $850.00 after hitting AWAK. I did the same thing today but instead of hitting AWAK I hit quad 4's with a 2 and I also hit quad aces without a kicker; walked out up $840.00.

No reasonable, intelligent person is going to read what I wrote and come away with the conclusion that I condone cheating based on the words and statements above......this is simply your opinion and interpretation, which is totally incorrect (and bizarre to say the least....)     My statement (that you cut out above) is simply making the point that some instances and forms of cheating are more serious and egregious than others, and I am positive that anyone would agree with this statement......if someone cheats on their taxes and shorts the government 20 bucks, and then another person cheats on their taxes and shorts the government 150,000 bucks, obviously the scope and level of the second tax cheat is far more egeregious.......sure they are both cheats, but you see the point.    Likewise, messing with the PSI in some footballs intentionally to try and gain an advantage is indeed cheating and IF Tom Brady did that then he needs to be punished.   But I am positive that people would look upon a player (Tom Brady or anyone) who cheats by using Steroids or other banned substances as far more serious and reprehensible.........THAT is all my words and statements above are saying.......no where is there condonement of cheating.   That being said, I am calling you out now for reverting back and falling into the childish, immature and pathetic BS that was supposedly put to bed a month ago when Webman jumped in and told everyone, mainly YOU, to knock it off with the pointlessly hostile and  adversarial posting habits.......you are going out of your way once again to just trade barbs and post anyting contrary to what I write.......and your last comment in the post above proves it with your detail of some alleged win ....Why would you post this at the end of a post in a completely unrelated thread, directed at ME, instead of (per usual) starting a thread in the Video Poker section detailing these wins for all the other forum members who might be interested?    Why would you plop that here?     I'll tell you why.....because this is what you are all about.....all your posturing and all your BS and all your nitpicking is simply because you cannot stand me, you cannot stand what I write and the way I write, and you cannot stand that I consistently out reason, out post, out think and out maneuver you in whatever topic or thread you stick your head into....so this is what you resort to, childish, petty little tweaks  in an effort to simply provoke and push my buttons (such as you think you can.)I got you......now go away....seriously, just find something else to do with yourself because you are stinking up this forum once again with your crap.......your intentions and motivation is all too clear now. Dab, Did you not post the above paragraph. You stated that the patriots are not cheaters. You stated that the patriots win the right way. Both of those statements are false.

If my team cheated I would be ashamed and would not defend them, but hey, that is just my character.

the part of the arguement i do not understand, is how using a perormance enhancing drug is somehow worse, than a performance enhancing illegal equipment change. a race car driver is more guilty for using an illegal drug instead of illegally modifying his car. or, using steroids in baseball is worse than using an illegal bat.  the whole idea of cheating at anything is to increase one's chances of winning over that of someone, who plays by the rules. and, i think it is a hard arguement to make, to declare someone/some team the best at anything, if cheating was involved. if they were so good, why cheat? it has become an ever increasing, accepted practice to overlook dishonesty. does not say a lot about the direction of society.
