Playing a Freezer

Post by FAA »

We discussed the merits of playing a machine that just paid. How about the converse? I watched an old lady lose $300 in about an hour on a machine that I had my heart set on playing Saturday. The casino was a hike from my main haunts. She finally grabbed her cane and hobbled away. Dollar JOB, min bet. Quad within twenty hands. I initially walked away, spooked by this hag, and took a six dollar profit. Figured if I went so far out of my way I should have a quad to show for my trouble. So I returned and fulfilled my quest. Very busy weekend in AC. All the machines I wanted to play required waiting and stalking. I will be sure to remember this biddie's bankruptcy in future sessions if I encounter some turbulence on the machine.

So in the course of your post you: state that the old lady grabbed her cane and hobbled away; called this same woman a biddy; and, spoke of her bankruptcy.

Apparently you: plan on never aging; have never suffered a physical ailment that required you to walk with assistance; and, you've never busted out when playing?

It seems to me that the main issue was the fact that you were upset because you had to wait for a machine that "you had your heart set on playing."

And wait, and wait. I've got a hard AC exit time. I'm sure they appreciate her patronage! Wishing bankruptcy on someone playing a coveted machine is likely a common sentiment. None of the above is PC. Another recent thread is "Makes you want to scream!" So many scenarios in a casino fall under that wide umbrella.

I would advise anyone reading this NOT to draw the conclusion that Ted actually cares about anything (like senior citizen or handicapped rights) except the opportunity to jump all over a poster for what he (Ted) thinks is a inappropriate or offensive post.    He does not......and fortunately Ted does not have any say over what people can or cannot post here......While I do not support FAA actually believing the woman was in fact a "biddy", I also am certain that FAA really did not mean ANYTHING by his post other than to express his commonly shared frustrations with the rest of the Video Poker forum community......

Thanks for having my back, DB. Whenever I see hardcore playing at a machine I want now, I just leave; saves aggravation. Gotta preserve that positive mindset we all know is essential to VP success!

Commonly shared frustrations about what? Another player was playing a machine that another player wanted to play but couldn't because it was already in use? Boo hoo. If I had a dollar for everytime someone came by and I was playing a machine that they wanted to play;I'd be a millionaire.

DaBurglar can believe what he wants in his mind about me, I don't care. Thinking that a woman is a "biddy" is one thing but to put that thought out into the open is a different thing altogether.

As for my level of concern for the rights of the elderly and handicapped, I would say that level is pretty high and I can back that up.

Isn't it ironic that DaBurglar picked on only my response and not Phils?

Well, if that was Bill Gates' mother, and she is anything like her son with regard to gaming, the casino will not miss her.

In Vegas a while back, Gates had a grand suite at a strip hotel. He does not gamble, though. When an oriental 'whale' arrived, and wanted his 'lucky' suite, they booted Gates out, in spite of his offer to spend $10k / night to stay in that suite. The casino laughed, saying that they will win $10k from their new guest before he finishes his first cigarette.

As for me, I am more the walker type.

Might as well throw my 2 cents into the mix. I know it is very frustrating to head over to " your " machine and not be able to get on it for hours or maybe never that session.
That said, I am assuming the above is the case and you had no other intent in your choice of words which were not cool at all. I will give you the benefit of the doubt this time.
I will also add one more frustrating thing that happens to me all of the time. As most know, I usually play in the middle of the night and early AM due to elderly folks current situation at home. More often than not, when I see " my " machine empty from a distance and head over toward it, someone appears out of a black hole as if they were beamed there by Scotty himself and grabs the machine. Under my breath, I will mutter words if my mom heard, would have resulted in an entire bar of soap being stuffed in my mouth In my case, it is not directed toward the person, just the event itself.
