I agree with Vman. "Bob", as he is known here, probably quickly summarized the contents of the thread in his mind and offered a response intended to be helpful. Silly that a discussion over which machine to choose has turned into a tiff. Bob has always been helpful to me on VP matters. I have no problems with highly intelligent people who sometimes lack the social graces --- it is not uncommon. Bob is very direct and a mutual friend once described him as someone who doesn't suffer fools gladly... or silently. I, for one, am grateful that he offers his VP experience and research to the members of this forum.
like to know what gives you the credentials or insight to deem him as intelligent or myself as a fool. feel free to overlook a lack of social graces and those who cannot admit to a mistake. the both of you make a great couple.

No one denies that Bob is one of the most knowledgeable experts on VP. However I think an intelligent person would not personally insult the folks who buy his books, software and listen to his radio program. We play VP for a completely different reason than Bob. When I said I agreed with John Scarne's view, namely that gambling should be viewed as a form of entertainment for which one should budget a certain amount to spend, here was his response, "John Scarne certainly wrote a book that sold well. Good for him! But he had a lot of misstatements in it, including the silly you just cited --- for not the first time."

Paying a good sum of money to go sky diving, playing golf at a top rated course, or photographing shooting big game in Africa are not on my bucket list, but if that's what someone wants to spend discretionary funds on that's their decision. He could have disagreed with me without belittling me. I don't appreciate pomposity and being crassly put down. And I am not the only one on the forum treated with unnecessary scorn.

BTW, a few years ago I had a very pleasant exchange with Frank Kneeland regarding my perspective concerning VP. He was respectful even though our views were basically miles apart. Quite a difference in attitude and approach.

Well said Bill, I think you have summarized the mixed feelings most people have about Bob.

Still not sure why Bob created a "Recreational Strategy" on the strategy cards and the Winners Guide books if playing at a casino for recreational purposes is against his ideals.
