Gone But Never Forgotten
On my first trip to Las Vegas, there was a small casino a block from The Strip. It was called The Maxim, and I loved the ambiance. I had only taken a few hundred dollars, not realizing how quickly it could disappear. The Maxim had a video poker "room", where the royal flush jackpots were in separate suits. I was down to my last two rolls of quarters, when one of those interesting hands was dealt. I can still see it...10H, QH, AH, 9H and JH. What the heck; a flush wasn't going to get me three more days of gambling, so out when the 9 and Zippity-Do-Dah, in came the King and very loud bells and whistles...Jackpot $4,200. Great old memory!

I remember the Maxim, wasn't it a block or so east of the Strip? If it's the place I'm thinking of; isn't it now Hooters? Good memories are hard to replace Puxatawny...

Maxim casino is now the Westin. They have named the casino "Max" as a reminder of days past.

I loved the Maxim as well. Rooms were something like 24 bucks on the weekends which I thought was pretty good way back when. I still have a notepad from there with the logo on it.
