Not for everyone...but...
This strategy I have been using on 9/6 job has worked well for 4 straight sessions. That is actually a record for me as prior to this, I have never won in more than 3 straight sessions going back to the beginning of time.
I use it on a quarter game and most of the time am playing 5 coins. You could also play starting with 1 coin and forget about the Royal. This method relies mostly on hitting quads, full houses, and or flushes about when they should come in. I also had it work in one 5 hour session where no quads came in at all, but there were full houses.
It is not difficult to keep track of, but will only work if your machine allows bets of up to at least 25 units on a single line game and also allows flexibility to change denomination to fifty cents or a dollar.
If your starting bankroll is say 500 dollars, you just bet 5 quarters as long as you have over that amount in the bank. Each hand lost where your bank falls below 500 is assigned a space. You are actually hoping to hit 2 pair in at least 2 hands played. When you lose a net of 2 hands and your bank is below 500, you up your bet from 5 to 6. Since for me, the rest is somewhat difficult to explain, I will just use an example of play and tell you where your bet would be.
Let's say you start off badly with your 500 bank and lose 2 hands right away. Your bet will now be 6. If you lose 2 hands again, your bet will go to 7 quarters. Lose 2 net again and your bet will be 8 quarters until you hit something or lose a net of 2 bets again.
So now you are at bet 8. You hit a flush which pays 6 for 1 and you have netted 5 spaces on that hit. If your bank did not go back to at least 500, you back down your next bet by counting the spaces you just gained. So you can scratch off bet 7, bet 6, and you will be back at bet 5. Remember each bet level is assigned 2 spaces. That is about all there is to it. It is expecially nice to hit those full houses or quads at say bet 8 or 9 or even higher if you have had a bad run. I probably have confused some, so I will try and answer questions if any. Good luck out there.

Olds way to go bud, sounds like you are having a good time this year. I
have been working with a 9/6 JOB system where I play max only after a 3 of a
kind keeping all other wins. I can play all day even. Always move after
the four of a kind hits. Even been hitting the high stakes $5 machines
with a $20 once a trip. 17 times 4 of a kind hit in 6 and 1/2 hours on Wen., none on the max bet but this 4 jack hit was the high of the day!Last Friday 19 four of a kinds in 7 hours 3 on the max bet. JOB is a good game any day of the week!

Nice hit wildman, but I thought you played at a casino that had 9/6 JoB from everything from quarters up. So why bet min on any denomination higher than quarters?
This is the one thing about Phil's play that tilts me badly.

Well, if Bob Dancer were here and saw this he'd at least be telling you to hit the Double UP button

The Double Up feature is not as an important matter to Mr. Dancer unless the casino rates time as part of the comp equation (takes the player more time to play the double up feature) or if there is a promotion for W2G taxable wins (where the double up feature can boost you into that range).
Mr. Dancer has already called out this situation in the past than the fact single coin was played if there was $1 denomination 9/6 Jacks or Better available at the same casino.
So why bet min on any denomination higher than quarters?
Because single coin $5 pays better than max coin $1s. Makes no sense. Don't no why. Haven't a clue. Nothing. It just does... Anyone who hasn't discovered this has not tried it for very long. I have and it does...sorry. Seriously, the real reason I do it is because I like to play with the casino's money and switch to max coins when I'm on a run. It's the only way I will ever play $25 a hand and I've done pretty well with this. The question is what's more likely? Hitting a short coin Royal ($1,250) or hitting a max coin Wild Royal ($625) or Quad Deuce ($5,000)? If you think this through you may change the way you play (or maybe not). Works for me anyway.

Always move after
the four of a kind hits.-----------------------------------------------------Agreed! I do not press my luck. Last week I was dumb enough to continue and lost eight dollars.

I wish I had records for the more than 20 million lifetime hands I have played since 1992 on vp. I don't know why, but the hits with 1 coin far outnumber those with max bet percentage wise. Unfortunately, I am just too stubborn to accept this and as a consequence, have busted more bankrolls playing max coin than I care to elaborate on. As expected, the method I described when starting this post failed on the fifth session. What I should have learned from that session was to quit when I hit a quad with many quarters in and that brought me back to 50 cents to the good. It went into a downward spiral after that even though I changed machines several times. Busted the day's budget, but still about even for the 5 sessions played with this method. I am working on a similar thing with deuces wild which is still my favorite game, but the dud streaks without deuces just seem to be too long so far. I have only practiced that one on wolf vp. The other option I may try is start with single coin instead of 5 and forget about the Royal which I never get anyway. Will see what happens. I think Phil's method still seems to be the best to conserve capital though I just haven't had any luck with it.
Edited to add....If I can find some really low denomination machines allowing many units bet and options to change denominations, I will try this on Deuces Wild with the Martingale Clone. I know quads in the deuces game can be your best friend when they hit close together. After every 4 net hand losses, I will up my bet by 4 hoping of course to hit quads or even full houses or higher for a bailout. Lose 4 again net and go up 4 more and so on. Might work well even on a really bad paytable machine that allows great flexibility. Those machines are hard to find though and I may have to resort to multi line games to play this way. There are a couple of penny ones at Foxwoods, but I haven't played there in a number of years. Mohegan does have 3 cent spin, I just don't like the game that much. I think one of the LL family members does well with it though. Anyway, good luck and health all.

I've busted plenty on 9/6 JOB. What bank roll are you using? You probably play at twice my speed. Still, 2.5 quads an hour is stunning!
