In reality, whether Bob Dancer wins consistently or not has no bearing on us as VP players. I believe that you need to do all that you can do to put yourself in a position to win, and then have good fortune shine on you. I think Bob probably works very hard to put himself in the best position that he can to benefit positively from good fortune, when it strikes.

I would venture to say that we all do that. Who here doesn't use a software program to learn and / or strategy cards? The only part of it that Bob probably does that us out of towners don't is scramble around in great detail looking for promotions and casino drawings or mistakes. I, like others, try my best to play where the best deals are whenever I'm in town. If they are over or under or right at 100%, I don't really know or care.

Probably a lot don't use anything. I do sparingly (mainly on progressive games) and I am very about the math in VP. I just don't care enough to practice a bunch to squeeze out that last dollar per hour of play. Although at JoB/Bonus/DDB, I'm pretty sure my errors cost me less than a dollar an hour on those games, and since I'm not a pro, that's okay. Now something like AC Joker Poker...yeah, I'm struggling with strategy. I do know that Joker + 9 is better than Joker only! Thank God that progressive at my local usually doesn't get THAT high.

With all the things you mentioned when it comes to local casinos, I would add the best customer service, ventilation, perks, dining, entertainment and, for us, bingo are part of the equation.

Oh yeah, OB. You're drilling down. I would have a hell of a laundry list were I to create my utopian casino or expect everything checked off. Invariably we must compromise on something. Just don't compromise on too much. I prefer the smoke free, quieter second floor of my place. Unfortunately, poor pay tables and high denoms. And the machines get less play, so the odds of busting before a nice hand are high. $50 coin in on full pays for a point is a useless perk.  The dining is outstanding, but good dining is easy to find in AC. Entertainment is superb, but crazy expensive. I'm a day tripper anyway, so I skip it.

[/QUOTE]Your post was filled with relevant points --- but this one missed the mark.How much play a machine gets has no bearing on how the machine will act when you are on it. Each hand is dealt independently of those that have come before.There are players who believe that a losing player "loads up" a machine making it much more likely to pay off for the next guy. these players are mistaken. whether the last guy lost a ton or hit three royals in three hours --- how the machine plays going forward will be the same.

Is that always the case OR have you ever found a machines that you can never seem to get to pay out and simple avoid that machine? In my limited recreational play there are a few I don't sit down at after ongoing really bad results. This is usually 1 machine on a entire bank I never seem to win at but do normal on the rest.

There are cases where of two machines, if they are both available, I'll pick the one on the right. But if the right one is busy, I'll sit down on the one on the left.there are no otherwise acceptable machines I'll always avoid because I've run bad on them.
