Useful Odds?
For you East Coast recreational players out there, I ran some numbers that you may find useful. Here are the most popular single line quarter video poker games sorted by odds from the highest to the lowest. I carry these numbers with me when I play and use them to make decisions on where, what and how I play. Most people on this forum probably do the same, but these are the games and odds I find most often. Vegas guys will think some of these odds are ridiculous, but that's the norm outside of Nevada.9/6 Jacks Max Coin-99.544% Single Coin-98.373%8/5 Bonus Max Coin-99.166% Single Coin-97.932%Airport Deuces Max Coin-98.913% Single Coin-97.686% (25/15/9/4/4/3/2/1)7/5 Bonus Max Coin-98.015% Single Coin-96.779%9/5 DDB Max Coin-97.873% Single Coin-96.641%8/5 Jacks Max Coin-97.298% Single Coin-96.064%8/5 DDB Max Coin-96.786% Single Coin-95.554%Fooler Deuces Max Coin-96.569% Single Coin-95.368% (20/12/8/4/4/3/2/1)Beau Rivage Deuces Max Coin-95.964% Single Coin-94.761% (20/10/8/4/4/3/2/1)As you can see, playing single coin sometimes has a considerable edge over max coins. Knowing the odds doesn't tell the whole story, but it does come in handy on occasion.

Beau Rivage Deuces Max Coin-95.964% Single Coin-94.761% (20/10/8/4/4/3/2/1)Beau Rivage Deuces! That is hilarious. Wish some of the slot directors at the Beau could see this, and see how poor their reputation is.

I hope they do. The Beau Rivage in Biloxi has the worst VP odds in the entire country. Can you image how bad the regular slots pay!! We're never going back until they at least match the terrible Florida casino odds. We don't care if they send a lemo to personally drive us there with free champagne and the Beach Boys in person playing in the back seat! Enough is enough...

I've never been there before, but I've heard Harrah's Cherokee has an excellent selection for those that can play at $5 denomination

We like Harrah's Cherokee. At least they give you a break if you play bigger. Believe it or not the DDB odds in the Beau Rivage "High Limit Room" are 7/5. You would have to be completely brain dead to play there. By the end of your trip you could have bought a car with your loses.

I have never seen this paytable anywhere. I've only seen 12/10 - 97.58% and 12/9 - 97.06% and 10/8 - 95.96%. I'll let you do the one coin calc.
Also 9/6 DDB (98.98% max) isn't up there either.

Fooler Deuces (20,12,8,4,4,3,2,1) is the quarter Tampa Hard Rock Deuces Wild Pay schedule. They put three new quarter machines in about 3-4 months ago that are a little better. For me, it's better to play single coin .50 Airport Deuces instead. 9/6 DDB is a recent addition in $1s and above. I try to avoid DDB becasue of the huge swings. It's fun when good things happen, a nightmare when they don't. I hate going home with empty pockets...

I hate going home with empty pockets... That's never happening, Frugal One! The sooner I acquire your discipline, the more solvent I'll be. I'm a max coiner very seldom, but I don't min coin it as much as I should. That is, every hand I'm not maxing out. I hang around too much in the two, three, four middle ground. And playing JOB isn't doing myself any favors to begin with.

I went to the Tampa Hard Rock today and tried something new. I took $250 and changed it all into a big stack of $5 bills. I need some exercise so I walked around the casino all day and played Cheap Strategy $1Airport Deuces. If nothing happened at $5, I walked to another machine and played another $5. I had one nice $100 run up and cashed 3 more $50 tickets. Never did get quad deuces again.... Played all day and came home even for the day. I consider this a win. Here's a tip. Hire a 500 pound gorilla and give him all your tickets over $50 so you'll have money left at the end of the day.

The losses experienced at Beau Rivage must have been significant to change your stance with the place. Yes it is probably one of the worst places to play in the country. At the rate of 7/5 DDB, it is best to play a non-even money table game where the pace is slow and the house edge might be a little lower.
What is also baffling about the Beau is that they only award 2 tier credits for every $10 coin in on video poker. A huge loss for just getting into Pearl tier from Sapphire. It is best to build status at mLife in Vegas and then use the benefits at Beau.

Was wondering if you found these machines on your previous visit to the Hard Rock Tampa. 9/6 DDB is available in lots of places so for those travelling, there is a good chance it will be encountered so it is best to add it to the guide as Vman suggested. I did a report on the game based on the perspective of recreational players to look at.
