Batting slump

Post by olds442jetaway »

Well, unfortunately I have lapsed into a late season batting slump and my current batting average for the last 14 sessions is just 143 which puts me in the league with most MLB pitchers. What that really means is just 2 profitable sessions out of the last 14. If you want to take it a step further, I had one home run meaning a session of up 500 or more. No doubles or tripples which would have been 300 or 400 respectively, and one single for one session meaning an up day of between 0 and 100. I also made quite a few errors meaning I was up pretty good during some sessions, but kept playing until I started dropping fly balls and striking out. As a result, I have been sent back to the minors and only authorized to play games of five cents and lower by management. ( the Mrs. ). I have called Pete Rose for advice, but so far he has not returned my phone call. As an all time great hitter, with tons of at bats like me, and of course sometimes gambler, I figured he could could advise me in both areas. For now though, I am content watching the Little League World Series. Those kids are great and obviously have lots of potential. Maybe I should apply for a job with them as a 67 year old bat boy. Hope I have made someone at least smile in case one of you is having a bad day....Olds....

olds,
With your batting average you could bat in the 3 spot for the Houston Astros and certainly be batting higher the our starter Jason Castro.

Olds, you'll be catching more bench than Johnny at this rate! But don't worry! He and Pete were sublime partners on unforgettable teams with the game's oldest franchise. You'll have to back to the fundamentals. I'm talking JOB. You've lost your eye. No discipline. I second management's small ball philosophy. In a better environment you could markedly improve. But geography has done you in for the time being.

Coming back though the last several games. Hitting around 318 I think. Hope I can do the same.

DaBurglar why do you feel this constant need to try and run me down? I have not made a single post in this thread so why did you involve me?

Just get over the fact that I lead a healthy life, am generous with both; my time, and my money, keep a positive mental attitude, focus on the good and not the negative, and just plain lucky. Maybe you should try it.

try simply watching other players (discreetly)-------------------------------------------------------------------Absolutely. Pass by them to note their credits. Sit at a nearby bank. Pass by fifteen to twenty minutes later. The total will probably be around half.

I have seen quite a few vp jackpots lately at Mohegan Sun and several over 10k. Of course I have no idea how much was pumped in first. I find when I drop down to nickel play with minimal action, I almost always stay ahead. Anyway, that is where I am for now in the Minors and batting a quite respectable 287. Fielding has improved. Hoping to be able to move up to AAA ball soon, but that is up to management. ( The Mrs. ). Also my old Saturn keeps telling me that " you put 311k miles on my clock and I can't run forever. " Should she decide to pack it in tomorrow, I have to be prepared to get another car too so I am probably better for now staying in the minors even though the grass is a bit bumpy, the bleachers have splinters in them, the hot dogs are usually cold and the beer could be colder.
