those who jump on the machine while I'm stretching my legs that's "locked up" while I'm waiting for a hand pay.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have seen that. Lots of infrequent players. It's a majority of weekend warriors to begin with. But they may make a weekend every other month and are genuinely clueless for the most part.

If I wanted to socialize while gambling, I'd play the tables. I love VP cause it's just me and the machine and my play is not influenced by others, as in blackjack. However, I find it very distracting when being watched while I play. Like Ted, I'll stop playing until the "offending" party leaves. If they ask if I mind if they watch, I usually shrug and say no, because I don't want to be rude. I go to a casino to play, not watch others. And why watch a machine to try to deduce it's productivity, if we believe in RNG's? I've sat at a machine someone had luck at, and had none. Conversely, I've hit at a machine after it was vacated by someone who didn't hit a thing. We're all there to have fun, but it's not fun for me to provide your entertainment.

There's something creepy about that. I'm all for watching if seated at a distance. Otherwise, intrusive.

We're all there to have fun, but it's not fun for me to provide your entertainment.I do not have a major disagreement with most of this post, I think you merely differ with my thought and viewpoint to a lesser degree than you realize, and you also misinterpret or misapply some of that which I originally stated: When I speak of "Socializing" within a casino, I obviously mean socializing within the CONTEXT and feasibility that exists in a typical layout and situation of any American Hotel/Casino in Vegas/AC/reno etc etc! Clearly, if you are playing a Vp or **** machine you cannot also be talking or interacting to any great degree with a person (although you can indeed talk casually which many people do while playing VP or slotts!) And as sumeone previously pointed out, TABLE GAMES themselves offer a lot of chances to interact with the other players at your Table and game, which is often the entire point of people who sit down to play Blackjack or Carribean Stud, or even 3 card poker!!! I myself have had some of my most "fun" and memorable casino experiences when I sat at a blackjack table within a place like the Golden Nugget in Downtown Las Vegas and proceeded to play for a couple hours, enjoying immensely the interaction amongst myself and the others fueled no doubt by COLD BEER!!But buffilita, you raise some good points about how it is NOT your job in particular to entertain others, and how some people simply are rude no matter what you say, do or offer! I cannot find any fault in these obvious points, and I want you to know I had no intention of undermining such principles when I started this thread/discussion! I just wanted to get people thinking and talking about the obvious problems with people who follow tedlark's (and many other people) philosophy (and tactics) when encountered within any casino he/she/they happens to be visiting! It also serves to remind us that casinos in general in the USA, are indeed PRIVATE PROPERTY and thus we as US citizens do not have a lot of the same rights and freedoms we normally are accustomed to having elsewhere in society!!!!! just something useful to remember!!!!

i don't think there has been a single person who responded that said they went to the casino, looking to socialize, with folks they do not know. i have seen lots of players, who were friends, playing and socializing. but, you never know what kind of nut may be sitting next to you and some just enjoy playing the game and are not looking for anything else.

DaBurglar if would please explain the text I highlighted, italisized, and underlined. From my perspective it seems like you were trying to slam me and get people to agree with your position when, it backfired and you saw that I wasn't alone. More backtracking and doubletalk.
