Re: Why I need to take blood pressure medication
Except for the stench of the smoke, I get a kick out of the ones ( and not just the men ) who never flick their ashes and just let them fall all over themselves or more often than not the machine. Of course they never clean up after themselves and just walk away when they are done playing. I can't even imagine what their house and car looks like.

Olds442, you just made me conjure up images of PIGPEN from the Charlie Brown / Peanuts gang! Remember him? a constant dust & dirt CLOUD would travel in his wake whereever he went!!!Hey Ambassador E.......I got a kick out of your post too......"tripping over a pile of ashes" must entail some major league ASHES if they are thick enough and sturdy enough to cause someone to trip over them LOL LOL!!! But I will give you this much, I have seen some smokers who have literally accumulated a small "PILE" of ash around themselves usually in one or a couple of ashtrays situated on the machines next to the one they are playing, and of course there is massive "spillage" onto the actual machines next to the machine that the smoker is actually playing!. If and when someone swoops in to play after the smoker is gone, or even when he is still playing, a veritable "ASH Storm" kicks up from the breeze of the person sitting down to play, and then he or she inevitably must either wipe away all the excess ash or (more likely) BLOW the ash off the machine he wants to play, which is always a messy deal.

Oh yes, I remember Pigpen and am picturing him now. Speaking of piles of ashes, back in the early 70's we worked with a guy who not only never got rid of empty beer cans in his car, but never emptied the ash tray either. You guessed it...He was a chain smoker as well. On top of it all, he had to wear a suit to work everyday. At the time I still remember his car, a 1969 Toyota Corolla that he bought new for 1,999. The floor and the back seat were completely covered in empty beer cans and the ash tray overflowed onto the rug and into the passenger seat. one day, my friends car broke down and " Joe " had to pick us up. Since we were back in the 1970's my friend was wearing a white Leisure Suit. I had on a blue pin stripe one. I brushed aside some cans and sat in the back. My friend sat up front. Needless to say, when he got out of the seat of the car, his ash...I mean ass had turned completely gray. I just smelled like stale beer a little I guess. Funny thing is....Joe went on to eventually get into upper management. When they finally banned smoking in the workplace later in the 70's he nearly had a nervous breakdown. I ran into him a couple of years ago. Now in his late 60's and retired, he still puffs away like no tomorrow. I don't know too many 2-3 pack a day smokers who are still around after 50 years of chain smoking, but there a few and Joe is one of the lucky ones. By the way, he is all Irish so I guess he just has that luck.

Today a man to my left and a younger man to his left struck up quite an animated conversation about cigars and cigar bars. Truly insipid chatter among self congratulating connoisseurs. Where are the foodies when I need them? Serenity now!
