I can't play any other way

I can't play any other way

Post by wildman49 »

After playing at much lower levels of betting for most of the year, I have moved my play up to $1.25 a hand and changing the screen out to max bet at the $1 level about 3 weeks ago using a $500 bankroll per trip.Playing only 99% plus games. 9/6 JOB about 70% of the time, 16/10 DW about 25% and a 5% BP,DB,DDB and WHA. all are 99% plus pay tables.DW going to $5 max after FOK/FH and  non wild card games after a 3 of a kind.I am having more fun then ever clawing back my quarter losses at the pot shot $5 bet that I can't  play any other way. Have hit so many FOKs at the max $5 bet in Jacks that I have lost count. The other day this DW hit. Also have had 2 royals at the $1.25 bet. I am looking for that next 4k royal on the pot shot bet hopefully soon!  15 trips so far only 4 negative , one was a total loss of bankroll. When I flat bet for many years it was 11 negative 4 positive.

Changing denominations as you play adds a whole new level of excitement to the game.  You will eventually hit a 4K royal and you will really be hooked.   It can turn on you, so be careful not to wade in above your comfort level.

I had a hard time at first, dislike changing the screen. It adds a fun factor when maxing that $5 bet anything can happen!I am still playing on that 4k royal money I hit a year ago yesterday while using the DW system, Its the only way I can play any more. Its not for everyone, I have had the $500 loss once and am sure it might happen again but play so much JOB its a very stable game most the time and should help to avoid them big bankroll losses.

Good hit wildman49! You've been lucky recently.

I agree it is more fun and thrilling to raise the stakes time to time, rather than flat bet all the time. Both will ultimately yield the same payout in the long run, but raising the bet spikes up the variance, something a game like DDB can provide.

I double down my bet for the next hand after 3oaK in JoB rather than increase my bet 4 or 5 folds in denomination. It keeps the variance in check, although the pitfalls of increasing the bet is if you cannot chain a good streak it works against you.

Most important part is, as long as you are having fun playing the way you want to play.

Great post. I hope to hop on this magical ride once I summon the courage.

I've tried this with dizzying success and total failure. It's about excitement and variance. One day in October, about 2 years ago, as mostly a quarter player, did this denomination press thing with .25, .50, to $1 denomination... with 9/6 JOB, long story short, hit two $1 royals, same machine, about 30 min apart, at the dollar level for $8,000. I though I died and went to heaven.
However, also had multiple $500 and $1,000 losses pressing my luck with high denominations too.
Conclusion? Tread carefully, do this infrequently, and be willing to come back to your comfort zone instead of the chase if you start racking up losses. It's greed that kills us. As Gecko said in the movie"Wall Street", pigs get slaughtered.

Oh yeah. We can't ever get too cozy at the higher denom. Just take a brief tour each hour for a handful of hands tops. It's not gonna break you. Then revert to your usual level headed, prudent play.
