Re: Help me help my wife
I'm with bigboy. I like to withhold judgement. I'll admit the first thing that came across my mind was our favorite banned member is at it again. However, even if this is the case it is often better to use the opportunity to provide useful information.
So, I'd ask for more information on location and casinos in the area. Someone will probably know whether any good games are available in the area.

Oh it is him. Boilermaker has not been back since the first post. Besides that who in there good senses would locate us to ask for addiction advice and if vp is a placebo for problem gambling? Addiction one of his favorite topics. Form what I can see he is here under several alias's. He gets most of his email , column, ideas right from this forum.

I confess I drafted a lengthy, Dear Abby-like response to the OP. But after looking the thread over more closely I’m with you guys. So instead of writing someone else’s column about how to gamble without losing control I’d point anyone interested to the kind of advice anyone can get from this site and many others such as the National Center for Responsible Gaming (http://www.ncrg.org).
But it raises the interesting question of how we’re able to do it when others can't. My feeling is that problem gamblers are getting, or at least looking for, something out of gambling and/or the atmosphere around gambling that they’re simply not getting from other things in their lives. Win or lose -- and it’s mostly lose -- they’re going back to it to fill some kind of void in their life. (If I thought the OP were on the level I’d suggest an absent husband, a sterile religiosity and a largely routine and uninteresting life, but.) For a nice film portrayal of an actual case, one that nearly emptied out a Toronto bank and left Caesar’s AC dark for a day, see Phillip Seymour Hoffman in “Owning Mahowny.”
Me, I get as many kicks out of the mathematics of gambling, working out probabilities, expectations and strategies, as I do from actually playing. And I simply hate to lose. I’d rather throw my dollar bills on the floor and get my jollies watching people scramble for them, so pushing money through a slot without anything coming out a hopper at the other end gets old for me very quickly.
That, and the common sense advice available almost anywhere, helps me keep my gambling in perspective. It’s entertainment, not investment; enjoyment, not employment. I can budget for it both in dollars and in time. And I can get the same math kicks from practice and sites like this one where there’s not a penny at risk that I get when my coins are in the machines.
Oh and my ever-loving? Mrs. Fatz just bought me Linda Boyd’s VP Edge, unasked! I just love that gal. Don’t need no help from nobody there.

Well said, Minn.Fatz. This site not only helps with practice, but it's fun.? Question ? for "gambling problem wife's" spouse...when you are gone at your chosen job for four months or so..are you somewhere gambling? Is that your "chosen job"?ginxxx

Note that Boilermaker posted one message and hasn't been heard from since. At least not under "that" name

I think the important thing that took place here is that no one encouraged the person to have their spouse move to another gambling game or activity. On the contary suggestions were made to avail professional help. I suspect this was a fishing expedition and none were caught.

To fish you need a liscense and the only liscense he has is his self proclaiming to be a beyond belief winner.
This was a silly story from the start.
