Does this ever happen to you?
You are not having a good day in general on vp. You have been in a downward spiral and get that sort of sinking feeling as your session and or bankroll is nearing its end. Out of the blue, a nice premium hand hits. You look at your credits. Let us say you now have 192 bucks out of the 200 needed to be even. You say to yourself good. Just a few more hands to be even and I will cash out and quit for the day. What happens next happens so many times to me I can't even begin to count them. That machine or no matter what machine you play at that casino just won't give you anything. In a fairly short time that 200 is now gone and you leave quite upset at yourself. You might have even played a little more conservative just to get that last 8 bucks, but nothing worked. You would think you would learn your lesson, but you seem to repeat the same pattern over and over again. Finally after years of doing this, reading stories from this site or others, or you just rethink things a little you say. I'm done. I'm not going to let them get me like that anymore. Slowly you start to change your vp behavoir, but it has taken a lifetime to learn to quit when you are ahead or nearly so.

Yes of course. Quit while you're nominally behind. This should be our new mantra.
Slowly you start to change your vp behavoir, but it has taken a lifetime to learn to quit when you are ahead or nearly so.
I find quitting when I'm slightly ahead nearly impossible. If I took $300 to the casino and hit a $1,000 jackpot, I can probably leave with that ticket. The hard part is when the machine gives you a good hand early then goes on a downward spiral. We just know the good hand is just a round the corner and get sucked in again. I hate it when I give my winnings back to the casino. I would rather have the stupid machine give me nothing, than take it all back.

All is well. An hour and a quarter later, I am down $45 and begging for a quad with my next $20. Burned again. Just get off the machine. At least we won't blame a subsequent loss on the cold cycle on the spiral down.

It's just greed. I've done it too many times. I've pocketed many good "TITO" slips but also donated my share of potential winners. I have learned to suck it up and leave down rather than a complete loss. Better to cut your losses and leave with a little tail between your legs, lol.

Ed, I had to hit the crap table to recoup my lost gains last time. Seemed a good strategy for low rollers. But it was a long half hour of praying for numbers before it paid off. At least my legs got some circulation.

@FAA: Craps, Baccarat and Blackjack are your best bets according to the experts. 3o mins. at the table wanting a hardways hit or longshot craps hits, I wouldn't last. Glad you have the patience to recoup your donation to the house.

What a dramatic seesaw it was. I was determined to retain my hard fought VP dollars. I stuck to the vanilla bets. After all, JOB is my stand by.
