Saw A Huge Win Today
I have been renting a house for the month of November in Bullhead City, right across the river from Laughlin Nevada and all the casinos. Today I was at the Golden Nugget in Laughlin when I heard all the excitement. I ventured over to see a man had hit a progressive worth.......1.1 million dollars on a penny mcahine!!
Apparently he had just sat down and started to play when he hit the big one. It was 3 dollars a pull but a person told me he had maybe just had 4 or 5 spins before it hit.
They had to call some techs down from Vegas (1.5 hour drive) to take the machine apart and make sure he did not tamper with it. Finally they gave him a cheque for the full amount without any tax withdrawn. He was told he would have to pay the tax man at tax time. A cheque for 1.1 million dollars...damn!
As I continued to play I wondered what the guy must be feeling knowing he just became a millionaire (minus tax). It was a great story around the casino for the rest of the day.

Hi case. I posted a while back about the 2.3m hit I saw a few years ago on a 2 seater penny machine at Mohegan Sun. Same type of scenario. Tore the machine apart, yellow tape all around, and suits everywhere. The lady that won was no more excited than if we had just hit a quad on job. I'm sure it sunk in later though. I just happened to be walking by on the way to play vp. I missed the actual hit by only about 10 seconds. At the time nobody but the gal who won and a couple of other patrons were there yet. It is quite something to see though as you posted. Edited to add....Hmmm Bullhead City...I guess it is named after a bull or something like that. Around here in Ct., we call catfish Bullheads. I don't know if they are called that in other places.

Good grief what a windfall. Amazing story. GN must be crowing about it on social media by now! I love how you guys describe the deconstruction of the machines. There must be a floor where that is mandatory policy.

Not sure about how Bullhead got its name because as you drive into city they have this huge turtle by the high way. Pretty area with the Colorado river dividing Arizona and Nevada. All the casinos are on the nevada side. If you like sunshine this is the place for you.

Love sunshine...Beach just down the street from us. Unfortunately, I paid for it by soaking up too much of it when a teen and early 20's. 5 bouts of the big C so far. Someone upstairs must still be watching out for me. After all, I still have the folks to care for.

Hmm.. I regard such winning sceptically, as there were cases in some casinos when player was false, so he "won"and real users began to trust this casino and play there more as the saw that one of the players won and they pay him the whole sum..
I`m doubt it was the real player)

Between the rigged machine crowd ,and the other conspiracy theorists, you should have no problem fitting in around here.

I truly hope you never find yourself in the situation of having a hard time denying that something has changed without a doubt. It took me over 18 years before the thought even entered my mind, another couple of years to pretty much convince myself. I'm almost certain that there has been changes made in my area, the only reason I can't say I'm 100% is because of folks like you that say it's crazy to think it's possible, it's the same everywhere and it's 100% random. I almost understand the need to make changes or adjustments to the machines, revenue went down when the recession came along. The casinos in this area scrambled to maintain profit margins, they laid off employees, cut back on comps and all kinds of other cost cutting measures. This of course only irritated the situation and more players were shed, revenue went down again. The next stop was cutting back on slots, hard to see with the naked eye but after time remaining players caught on, more players shed, revenues went down. I watched different casinos attempt to lower the pay tables, after 18 years players weren't completely dumb and just walked away because they could see the cut. I could provide an example of two casinos in this area that cut pay tables, one ended up out of business, the other was once packed, hard to get a seat at a vp machine, all the old machines were removed and replaced with new machines and reduced pay tables, the place is a ghost town now. In my mind the folks that run casinos aren't stupid, they understand that very few people will play $1 DDB with a 40/25 pay tables and they have to have people playing the machines in order to make money. We've had three casinos close their doors in this area, I expect more. Lost jobs and lost tax dollars are not something the powers that be strive to achieve, I'm sure they would be open to suggestions in order to save jobs and maintain tax dollars. I'll leave you with this little tidbit. Drug companies manufacture a drug, it goes to the FDA for approval, years later it is found by outside sources that the drug has real problems, happens all the time. Why would they, how could they.
