Re: FloridaPhil about Biloxi
Unfortunately, if they don't start offering players a better value for
their money, they will go the way of AC. Free rooms, drinks and food
are worthless if the casino cleans out your wallet each and every time
you play. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------You said it. I've definitely made the flight to value. Fortunately, in my case it only involves a two mile commute from the money pit.

It has been reported earlier this week that the IP in Biloxi now has 9/6 Jacks or Better in 25c, 50c, $1 denominations. There is also a sign that says "Best VP in Biloxi" to affirm it.
Interesting. Next month a new casino, The Scarlett Pearl, will be opening just down the road from The IP. The commercials that are running for the Scarlett Pearl are creating the impression that they will be more player friendly with looser slots, and better payback on poker, blackjack and craps. I have been hoping that new competition might put pressure on the IP to loosen things up a little. Thanks for this report Alpax.

Let's hope so. We love the Biloxi area and the people, but won't go back until they upgrade their video poker to at least what's available in South Florida. Airport Deuces in quarters is a minimum for us. If they can't figure out how to make money on 99% video poker games, they shouldn't be in the casino business.

You are very welcome!
Another positive change that happened this month at Biloxi was at the Treasure Bay casino.
Many 50 cents / $1 games with
8/5 Bonus Poker
9/7 Double Bonus
9/6 Double Double Bonus
Airport / Ugly / pseudoNSU Deuces
9/5 Jacks or Better (not close to 99% as the other ones)
Plenty of those machines are available. Still nothing on Beau Rivage. I did not leave out 25 cents by accident.
I did not leave out 25 cents by accident.
Most of the casinos in Florida have the better games starting a 50 cents. The Hollywood Hard Rock has quarter Airport Deuces, so we prefer to play there if we have a chioce. The Beau Rivage is an exception with horrible odds all the way into the high limit room. Why anyone would play there is beyond me? Doubling the bet doubles the loss, so you have to decide for yourself if moving to 50 cents is worth the gamble. It's possible to get down $2,000 on a bad day of DW without a quad deuce.

Beau Rivage seems to be generous with comps though. But that's also easier to do when you're offering VP in the 96% range.

The Beau RIvage was the first casino resort to offer us free rooms and flights. For quarter players, this was pretty heady stuff. Back in the day the odds weren't all that bad and the hotel is wonderful. In the past few years they dropped the odds to the point where the losses far exceeded the cost of a free room. These days, we can get a free room almost anywhere we want to go and get good odds at the same time. The best way to experience the Beau Rivage is to take the free room and gamble somewhere else.

I tried the new Tropicana AC VPlounge. Incredibly comfortable way to lose with 8/5 JOB. Another lesson learned. Play FP only. Forego the environment benefit. I lost $40 in two hours, which never happens on the marina.

If you pick your night, most casinos offer free rooms to their player's club members. Even if you have to pay, you can usually get a room for under $100 a night on weekdays. If you can consistently gamble at the Beau Rivage for under $500 a day, I think you should consider turning pro.
