State to lose millions.

The Tohono O'odham Nation's newest casino is scheduled to open Sunday as a Class II Casino. Located off the 101 Freeway, between Northern and Glendale Avenues it sits right in the middle of the West Valley's Entertainment District. It's neighbors include: The homes of the Arizona Cardinals NFL Football Team and Arizona Coyotes NHL Hockey Team as well as an Outlet Mall and Harkins Theaters.
The State of Arizona has refused to enter into a compact with the tribe which has forced them to adhere to the IGRA Class II regulations regarding gaming. No house banked card games or Class III Slots and Video Poker.
The Tribe will be offering Slots and V.P. that look and play like Class III games but are based on the attributes of a Bingo game. Most players won't notice the difference.
Because of the State's actions, they won't be getting their 8% off the top of the Tribes revenues generated at this facility.
Don't know how long it will take until the State notices a significant drop in revenues from the other local casinos and decides to negotiate a compact.

Yeah, there were people lining up before it opened on Sunday. If you build it they will come! There is plenty of players in the valley and I am sure that this new casino will be packed, even though it is class 2 gaming, no table games and no alcohol. Like you said, once they see the amount of revenue they are losing out on they will change their mind.
