Server Crash?
It appears the server may have crashed this evening. I couldn't access it for awhile. Of course it went away right when I hit a 4oak.

I have a feeling that something more sinister is at work. IE7 has crashed twice since I got back on. I am playing single play joker poker KOB. The first failure was loading the program and now it failed again after maybe 50-60 hands.

Shadowman, any trouble this morning? That sounds like a situation that would have be rebooting. Sometimes the flash player can just go wacky. It's rare, but I've had it happen to be.I'll dig into the logs to see what might have happened on the server level.Did the page start to load (red background) but not finish? (that would suggest a problem with the ad server)Or did it just hang when you tried to change pages with no on-screen change until the not found error? Thus far, the server has been vey reliable but there is the occasional restart required and other routine maintenance that can take it down for a short time. I'm unaware of any that was taking place last night, however.

The first failure occurred at 99% loaded. In both cases flash was mentioned as the problem by the system.
My guess is the first problem was caused by rebooting. Is there some way you can halt play before rebooting or display a message. In my case the screens just hung. Both the forum screen and the play screen. I guess that's why I thought it was a crash.

That sounds like a browser crash on your machine, not the server. In the event of a server crash nothing would come up at all and the browser would almost certainly not register a flash error. You migh try visiting the flash/shockwave site just to make sure your version is up to date and if there is a slightly newer version it might repair any issue that was created. http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download ... kwaveFlash

Your confusing different problems. The hangs occurred first. They appeared to be the server as I killed the browser and reloaded it and still could not access the fora for about 20 minutes. The next set of problems occurred later when I accessed the website and had IE7-flash blow up in my face.

I loaded the latest flash software fairly recently so I doubt that is the problem. I just downloaded the latest version and will see what happens.

Ah, didn't realize it was the two cases. Sorry about that.If you couldn't access the forum for 20 minutes, that certainly does sound like an outage of either the primary server or the ad server. I'm looking into it. There wasn't an unusual dip in overall traffic during that time but that certainly doesn't mean there wasn't a problem. It could also be route-related which would only cut out select people. Thanks, I'll let you know if I find anything. Please report any similar experiences going forward.

Yes, it certainly could have been route related. I doubt any two users travel the same route (except maybe faygo and his better half). It's typical that when something strange does happen it seems like other problems crop up as well. Maybe OEJ was right about the gremlins ...
