My 2016 Strategy
Today will be my first day of video poker for 2016. Last year started off great. Using CS coupled with a tightly controlled "hit and run" pot shot strategy, I was up about $2,000 by the end of last summer. After my sparing match with a certain "expert" on this forum, I got totally side tracked and switched to flat betting max coins. As expected, I lost all my profit and ended the year down about $1,000. I consider this money well spent as it reinforced what I already knew. In my world video poker is not about how much you win, it's about how much you don't lose. This year will be different. I'm going CS all the way and will be posting my jackpots as in the past. My bet is I will return to profitability. I'm sure I will be called out again and my results will be questioned, but I don't care. "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

Sounds good to me Phil. I was able to play a couple of times this year mostly using CS and so far so good. The only thing I may try differently is a combination of CS and a very mild Martingale clone. I mean very mild. In other words, every time I have the 4 or more hit, I will go to bet 5 one time. If after 5 or 6 trials that way on hits of 4 or more and getting misses, I may try bet 6 one time the next time CS calls for a max bet. If that fails after trying several times, I might try bet 7 when CS calls for a max bet and so forth. I will also back down accordingly on any good hits. On quarters, I don't think this will cost me much more at the end of the day and I may even hit quad deuces or something else good at one of the higher bet levels. Luckily, we still have Airport Deuces here for quarter and up games.

I agree CS is the best play. For me I have made 3 trips to the casino, playing max quarters 9/6 JOB and down $10 ytd. I have to give max betting another test. Yesterday had 13 four of a kinds in 5 and a half hours play, lost $50. I must have played 80 machines it was very slow on the casino floor. I ended 2015 down $1200 with a very bad last 6 weeks of the year. At one point in mid November I was up $2200 ytd and the system at the $1.25 max to $5 failed trip after trip. With $420 in gas cards, $1200 in food vouchers and other free items I had my best year ever. Good luck on your play in 2016!

Had a decent day today. Played deuces all day without a quad deuce and only lost $40. Pretty nice day of entertainment for $40. I'm getting tired of waiting for a quad deuce, so I will be working on a CS strategy for DDB this year, I think it has more potential than deuces if I can get the timing right. We'll see. At least I stopped the bleeding for now.

Statements like this is what bug me the most about you preaching the CS system. Good luck bucking the math though.

CS for DDB might take some work to figure out. On regular deuces, a winning hand comes out in the long run about every 6 hands. However, on 9/6 DDB a winning hand only comes out once about every ten hands and a win of 4 or more only comes around about every 26 hands as opposed to a 4 or more win on regular deuces wild about every ten hands. Keeping the same rules as CS for deuces wild will mean waiting a lot longer to have a max bet.
Statements like this is what bug me the most about you preaching the CS system. Good luck bucking the math though.
Math has nothing to do with what the RNG is going to do on your machine on any given day or over your lifetime. Random is random and pure luck determines if you're going to be a long term winner or not. This is the thing that bugs me the most about the Dancer strategy. Seeking out games with the best odds and learning computer perfect hand strategy will get you more hands, but it won't guarantee you will be a winner now or ever. I'm not preaching CS or any strategy. I believe players should think for themselves, openly discuss these issues and be free to challenge experts when they disagree.
CS for DDB might take some work to figure out.
I think DDB CS needs to go in a different direction. I'll open a new thread on the subject and so we can talk it over. Sounds like fun.

I know you can't argue the science behind the math, but as several of us have posted before, math and infinity as far as vp is concerned are related and intertwined. Assuming and this is a big assumption, but let's assume for a moment that everything is on the up and up with vp. My lack of Royals and other premium hands resulting in a 95% return for the last 5 years is just the math taking its course over time. It may never turn around for me. I have seen little old ladies play weekend after weekend on the worst paytable machines in the casino hit premium hands on every visit. Some have no idea even how to play vp and play it like they would play a card game at home. Yet, they manage to get ahead almost every trip. Most give it all back, but there are a few I know that hit and run and one of them donates all of her winnings to charity which is very nice. Anyway, while it is great to search out the best tables and be completely learned on the strategies, that is still no guarantee of success in getting 99% returns over your lifetime.

My daily goal is to get as close to breaking even as possible. If playing cheap gets me a free room or a drink once in a while, so much the better.

Phil, good luck to you, whatever your strategy happens to be......I would not put too much stock in what you perceive to be anyone here "questioning" or ridiculing you or your results.....first off, if they actually do that, so what? Do not let them bother you, afterall they have no sway or influence on you........second, some people here may openly debate or disagree with your some aspect of your play/posts, in which case that is the point of this forumSome people think I do not take kindly to being disagreed with (well only one person actually thinks that.) But in reality, if you bother to honestly look at what I post, and how I post it, I do not give out or back to people ANY different than what they give me first.....if someone wants to debate or discuss a specific issue (like VP strategy in your case) I am all set to do so......but if someone, out of frustration or ignorance or just plain spitefulness opens the ball and starts getting personal or hostile, well then .....And I also find that some people actually SUCK when it comes to reading comprehension skills......if I make a statement (in RESPONSE to something someone else said first) whereby I use words like "Stupid" or "moronic" to describe or sum up a person's POST or statement within a post, I have NOT in fact called that person STUPID or a moron.....I have simply applied a descriptive element to express my opinion of their POST, NOT the person himself. BIG BIG difference, but again, moot unless the person himself gets "nasty" with me first. In other words Phil, I respect you, and almost everyone else here does too.....keep doing what you are doing and what you have been doing, You are fine......
