So, in conclusion if you are a quarter player in the area the paytables
are basically what you will find elsewhere in Biloxi, but the machines
are nicer and the seats are more comfortable.
I'll stick with quarters and play in Florida.  The seats are just as good, the odds are 2% better and there are no state taxes or W2Gs.  All pumping $5 a hand into a Mississippi video poker machine gets you is bigger losses and the more you play the more you are going to pay for those comps.  No thank you...

the paytables at tampa (the games i play) are overall better than cherokee, for quarter players. while i understand that it is up to the players to make sure the correct cards are saved, i think the casinos should be offering a product that functions properly. NYS also has an agreement with the seneca tribe, that gives the state many millions in annual kickbacks.  had a couple of interesting hands while in tampa (all at single line quarter);-on DDB, got a RF, and two quad A'S w/kicker-on TDB, got quad dueces w/kicker and quad A's w/kicker, BOTH DEALT-on another machine, was dealt quads twice and drew a quad (non premium hands) also had multiple 3-4 hour time periods, where i got nohing/zilch. very costly.first time out of about 5 trips, went home with extra money, all those big wins, won net $1200. very happy, very lucky, right machines at the right time.    on another subject, CNN/MONEY and WSJ, both had articles about CET bankruptcy. very complicated and i am not qualified to explain. but, as mentioned in other posts, those interest payments just could not be met forever. maybe, this is the beginning of a cycle of less financially healthy casino properties closing.

i move around a lot, these hits happened on all different machines. i have never had so many premium hands over a 24 hour total playing time frame. i listed the big wins to show how even with those wins, i still 'only' won $1200. i/m/o, the 'losing' time periods have gotten so much more expensive, in the last few years. one needs to be extremely lucky to leave a casino, with any of the house money. you might be interested, the last time i was there, a guy playing behind me won $32,000 on a VP machine. do not know the name of the game, but he was playing three games at once, with a multiplier, $1 denomination.  after they paid him, i noticed he was playing two machines at once, quickly. i am confident that he surely won money, but he put a lot of his own money thru the machine.

Mississippi needs to wake up and fix this problem or go back to mullet fishing. We'll never go back there until they at least match Florida's VP odds.

I believe on Mr. Dawes trip reports to the newly opened Scarlet Pearl near the Biloxi area, the VP odds on that casino match up to that of Florida.

As for the topic of the post, I agree for the players that enjoy playing swiftly, broken buttons should not be a hindrance. In Vegas casinos, even though many people play on the video poker machines everyday, the buttons seem to be in good shape.
Tunica isn't terrible either, if you know what to look for. But the "good" paying games are pretty limited below the dollar level. But I can't say I have had much trouble getting on the one I wanted. Tunica definitely isn't VP crazy like St. Louis is. The the few exceptions now is the 100 play machine at Fitz (only one of them), and Double STP at Hollywood (but I barely play there). I used to sometimes not be able to get on Bally's STP games (2 of those) but they got rid of them in favor of All Star IIs with lower paytables. :( Best STP/Double STP game left is 9/5 Jacks at Sam's Town for quarters. But with 9/6 JoB bartops there, I have little interest in playing it...
