Score Refreshes

I've been wondering why the score window continues to refresh even while you're not playing. I suppose some people might want to just sit there and watch other players. However, they can hit the refresh button every now and then as well. It must put some extra load on the server. I know people with dial-up connections don't need the extra load either, nor do they want to exit the game and have to reload it later.
Another option is to make it an option in the profile.
