Re: Counting cards in vp
Any strategy that gives a player enjoyment is OK with me.
I agree Phil, For me I been playing a lot of 9/6 jacks and to spice it up I change out to B Deluxe on a 3 of a kind. Playing max bet on the 3 of a kind winning 15 coins using 10 of the coins in BDX lets you take a shot to pop a 4ok for 400 coins. Its been great so far this year playing near even most every trip. Just waiting for the Royal to hit now!

There is a world of difference between professional and recreational video poker play. If you believe you have the skill, bankroll and intestinal fortitude to be a professional video poker player, you should stick to Bob Dancer's strategy like fleas on a hound. If you are playing for recreation and don't think "grinding it out" is that much fun, play like you want. Players manage to win sometimes with no knowledge and with no skill, that's just the way the game works. If they didn't the games would be gone because no one would play them. Good things come from learning perfect strategy and picking the best games, but you don't have to emulate everything a professional does to enjoy playing video poker. Gamble with money you don't care about losing, know when to stop and enjoy the game as entertainment. Video poker is suppose to be fun, not a task to be endured.

Some of the rain cloud that has been following me around the last couple of years broke for a moment last night on my trip up with the Mrs. I was following the math strategy for both job and airport deuces as well as using my counting cards method as described below. The job quads were still very sparse. The deuces game was hanging in there a little better. I had to make my count in the deuces game 6 instead of 4 because a win in deuces comes along about every 6 hands while job is about every 4. I knew that even with perfect strategy or nearly so, the casino would break me at some point. I was getting fairly close to my bankroll limit for the day and the evening was winding down. My bets were up to bet 23 on the deuces game and I knew in a few hands I would be packing it in.
I think it was the fifth hand at bet 23 that I was dealt garbage. I tossed everything of course and was hardly paying attention when the draw sent me quad deuces worth 4600 quarters. Packed it in, kept the Mrs. company on her game for a few minutes, and had our usual coffee and bagels before a short rest and heading home. I hope the sun will shine for a while. We'll see. For now, I am a happy camper. Finally, thanks to Bob, Alpax, FP, and many others for their input and ideas over the years. I am still a recreational player. Just hoping to stay as close to even as possible. Following the math will help though long term. For me, fun and relaxation is still the name of the game. Hopefully, the rest will come over time.

Thanks. Going up later tonight to give it one of those mild mannered reporter type evenings (nothing crazy ). Tripple status points tonight, so if I get just 11x3 before midnight, it will be good for a hundred bucks in free play. Those offers are pretty rare. Thanks again.
