Las Vegas or Loss Vegas
Sweet J and I had been looking forward to our trip to
Las Vegas. We needed a vacation and since we were
going to Las Vegas we needed to take it while we
were doing well in poker.
We began our trip on Thursday, March 24th. We were
not going to let the weather predictions of rain
dampen our spirits!
Upon arrival in Las Vegas, we checked in at MGM
and began the hike to our room. My goodness,
we needed a shuttle to reach it! But when we
did...it was a room fit for a king and queen.
A poker king and queen, that iS. We played for a
short time and decided to retire to our mini palace
and await Good Friday. It had to be good, after all,
it is named "Good Friday"!
Did I say "Good Friday"? In correlation to winning,
there was no Good Friday, Sensational Saturday, Super
Sunday or Marvelous Monday! In fact, Las Vegas had
began to be renamed as Loss Vegas between Sweet J
and I and we were fearful that the only pictures
we would have would be of our long hallway, the
room and the $500 four deuces hand Sweet J strangled
out of the machine. But alas, along came Terrific
Tuesday. The morning was more of the same, but a
little before 3 p.m., viola! As we were walking the
strip, with our heads down, Sweet J looked up and
asked, "Why don't we ever play at Paris?" and I
replied, "Because I don't like Paris." At that
moment, a more accurate reply would have been,
"Because I don't like video poker!" But that feeling
didn't last...and it pays to listen to the wife!

I had decided that there was no way I was traveling
all the way to Las Vegas and returning without at
least one handpay! Sweet J felt the same way! Twelve
minutes after I snapped the photo of my Royal Flush,
she called me over to capture this...

Whew! It was a close call, but we would be returning
home the next day as winners and Las Vegas would not
be known as "Loss Vegas"!

Congratulations on a fantastic trip. I had Sensational Saturday. $1000 Royal Flush at Bally's AC.

Nice! A DDB 6 meter game, did you notice how fast the meters run?
It's CET, they generally run like molasses, which I think is dumb for progressives. The return of that game in the state butch shot it at was 98.39%. Only 0.52% higher than regular 9/5 DDB. I could see each meter being 0.1% maybe, at best. I've never seen one of these multiway progressives above 100% at a Vegas CET property. Even 99%+ is a rare event.
If you're going to play DDB for dollars anyway though, that's your best choice unless you want to hike it to Rio and play the 8/5 Bonus machines for full points. I've heard they also have 9/6 DDB available on those. Or play 7/5 Super DDB (98.61%), which is at many CET properties on game kings that have $1, $2, $5 denominations. I think Bally's has one with a royal progressive too that offers 7/5 Super DDB.
And seeing 10/8/6/3/1/1 Aces and Faces (95.82%) at the 50c level makes me a lot more angry. And I highly doubt that Sweet J was holding things like K57 suited over KQ. Or holding 678 or 89 suited over nothing.
Why can't they have the balls to offer 6/5/4/3/2/1 Aces and Faces (96.96%) whose strategy is much closer to standard Bonus? They offer 6/5 Super DDB (97.69%) for quarters+ as their best game below dollars...makes little sense other than greed to offer sub 96% games at the quarter+ level.
Good news is it doesn't sound like she played this poor paying, complex game for too long and took it for a bundle! Congrats again!

Dang, I didn't notice the game on the fifty center. 40 on a flush and 30 ona straight must shake up the strategy considerably.
