Speaking of which I just had the car AM radio on and they were talking about which politicians did this or that and are being sentenced for the same and the new primary votes to replace them and on and on. Nearly 50 years ago, I worked with a guy that wanted to run for mayor. I asked him why in the world would you want a job with those headaches and the pay is only 6,000 a year. His answer was yeah, but it is 6,000 a year and all you can steal. That pretty much says it all. He is not with us anymore, but did make an unsuccessful run for mayor anyway. He lost, but in the process quit the job where we were both working, somehow in a very short time ended up on the board of directors of a large local bank, opened a travel agency and limo company, and acquired quite a bit of local real estate. Not knowing or caring that much otherwise, I assumed he was just a smart businessman and did this well all on hit own, but I always wondered based on the above statement he made to me.

WAKE UP EVERYONE!Just because all these regs exist, and just because we keep HEARING that casinos are heavily regulated and watched, etc etc blah blah blah........DOES NOT MEAN (or GUARANTEE) that reality is actually matching up with all that.I believe that in nevada at least, with the gambling industry essentially being the whole focus of the state, that casinos in Vegas, Reno etc  are indeed very tightly regulated, and that the games & machines perform and yield exactly what they are supposed to over the long haul......I believe that Video Poker in any Nevada Casino is exactly what any knowledgeable player expects, because there is strong consistent oversight and therefore NO possible SIGNIFICANT advantage to a casino to try and get away with such shenanigans......NOW, of course it is remotely possible that somewhere in Nevada, in SOME casino, there MIGHT be a few machines that some unscrupulous casino manager or owner TEMPORARILY screws with to have the machine simply gobble up all funds deposited into it FOR A FEW DAYS, and then be ultimately reset back to normal FAIR settings before gaming regulators ever got a chance to see........This is the FAITH all of us exercise when we frequent casinos, namely that the casino itself is indeed abiding by all laws and regs, AND that the state casino control commish is doing its job ensuring that the casinos are abiding, etc etc.As for states with gambling casinos OTHER THAN Nevada, I have no such inherent faith......I believe with the world being what it is today, with human nature existing at an all time low in terms of ethical adherence, with the economic uncertainty that exists and with the general cynicism and ill will that permeates society in general, it is PROBABLE that somewhere there is significant corruption and illelgal/unfair activity taking place in various states' casino industries.         Just my opinion and belief, and of course in the case of New Jersey, it is more than just a opinion and belief.......edited to add:   We could and should probably have a separate thread for things in life that we all ASSUME are a certain way, but in reality we have ZERO PROOF that thinfs actually ARE that assumed way.For instance, did all of you know that Polygraph tests are actually completely BASELESS in determining whether a person is truly being deceptive??   Its the truth, and yet most people assume they are valid and useful......sure some law enforcement agencies and certain industries and companies might employ them for specific cases or instances, but it's often pointless, useless and simply done to try and intimidate or influence individuals to behave, think or communicate in a desired way or manner (or trick them into confessing something, whether its actually true or not.)Likewise, I ask this:   WHERE IS THE PROOF, the real actual PROOF that all these casinos we regularly play at are indeed fair and legit???  How do we really truly KNOW?

As I sit here and type this I truly cannot remember the last time I went to a casino. I have lost complete faith in the entire system and think it's all smoke and mirrors. I was one of the first patrons to walk thru the doors when gaming came to our area so we're talking about 24 years of consistent vp play. I'm no newbie to the game and understand the game almost as good as anyone in my opinion, doesn't matter anymore. I never had dreams or even remote thoughts of beating the game, all I expected was reasonable results. I played years and years with my expectations being met, nothing to complain about. Just a few days ago a host at one of the casinos I had spent a lot of time and money at gave me a call to see why I hadn't been there in a while. I told him to look at my results for the game I had played and he would understand my departure, he did and I doubt I will ever hear from him again, that's fine with me as I am done with them. I honestly don't understand what's going on with gaming around here but I suspect it's like almost everything else, it's been allowed to progress to the point that no one really knows or understands what's actually going on.
Now if someone believes they manipulate your individual results via
his/her players card because "they know who you are", then all bets are
off.I can tell you from a programmer's point of view this would be a software nightmare.  It seems that way sometimes, but the cost of doing this would be much higher than the gain.  It does make me chuckle to think about it.  You walk into the casino, put your card in the machine and the guy in the tower sees you on the monitor and says  "There's that bastard that hit a royal flush last week, we'll take care of him this time!!!"
Sometimes it sure seems that way though!  Last year, Orleans was doing one of their "Loyal To The Royal" promotions, where if you hit a royal, depending on the denomination, with your players card in, they hooked you up with a certain amount of free play plus a t-shirt. They were out of t-shirts when I hit one, so I went back to the players club a few days later when they had them, and they were able to pull up exactly when and what time  I hit that royal and what machine I hit it on. And they handed me a t-shirt with a smile!
