Gambler's Lock Box Wrap Up
The Gambler's lock box turned out to be a bust. It does provide a way to manage your money and let you know when it's time to leave. However, it does not prevent loses from occurring at any greater or lesser rate. If you tend to go on tilt and hit big denominations, it will help you. If you play until all your money is gone, you may benefit on a daily basis. Over time, I don't see any real benefit to this product other than as a learning tool.

I pretty much came to the same conclusion. The Mrs. is my best lock box still however. I have discovered a few things that most of us know or suspect after playing a lifetime. Now doing those things is another matter and of course some will reply that this is just pure nonsense. First, don't blow your entire bankroll on one ice cold machine. Better to take a break and try again in a different part of the casino, a different game, or at least get away from that bank of machines. Sometimes, they never turn around in any given day. Second, and I think FP touched on this recently, don't drastically increase your bet amount in an attempt to play catch up late in a session. You might hit something, but if not, you will run out of time and money. Third, play as close to perfect strategy as you can. Find and stick with the best pay tables that you can and don't play too many hunches. They will add up ( errors ) over time. Finally, and this is more important than money. Get as far away from the smoke as you can, take frequent stretch breaks and or walks, and stay hydrated. I have seen so many seniors taken away over the years from passing out from dehydration. There are probably more, but these come to mind. Now if I can only follow the rules.....

It's easy to tell someone not to do this, but when push comes to shove we all do it anyway. This is the main reason single coin quarters worked so well for me as I never got terribly behind, so when I hit something good it counted. Playing single coin quarters for most of the day satisfied two or my biggest desires; playing a lot of hands and having something left over for a pot shot or two. When you play max coins, it's hard to keep from getting behind early. I'm not telling anyone how to play or recommending any strategy, I'm just explaining why it worked for me. The biggest problem with single coin play is dealing with short coin royals. That is a very hard obstacle to overcome and why I don't play single coin anymore.

That is definitely not the case.

I just lost two hours and $60 on an ice cold machine. $650 coin in. Over 900 quad free hands. Regular two machines down had an incredibly hot machine. He even hit a Straight Flush and photographed it, as I would. I should have left at -$40. My CET RF cushion is dwindling. My Bally's start was dismal also. I won $14 with $25 FP. Lost that and another $10. Lost $25 FP craps bet. Sorry I went.

Another bad move. $60 ATM visit. Lost $54 of it in 1.25 hours. $500 coin in, 700 or so quad free hands. Abject futility. Adding insult to injury, the machine I should have moved to hit $1,100 Royal Flush in my absence. Probably by the Straight Flush guy. Just a day when absolutely nothing went right. You know what the ultimate lock box is? Leave the damn ATM card home. This will be my strategy going forward. If it means nursing drinks, I'll do it. All the Blackjack promo winners chosen were local: West Deptford, Linwood and Atlantic City proper. I did not stay for the final name at 8 PM. They really drag this stuff out with hourly names. Promo from hell. Not giving back any more of the RF. Just say no. MasterCard will stay in the master bedroom in the future!

If you played about 700 hands for $500 coin in, you were not playing full coins so the Royal you seem to feel should have been yours wouldn't have been for $1100 anyway, right?
